Some lore tidbits for Thea, and why she came to distrust the mortals of the realm to the point where she began to enthrall them to her will. This picture is the moment where she finally snapped, preparing the binding spell and fully committing to her dark eldritch nature.
The eldritch shapeshifter that was Nysanthea was naive in her initial exploits in the realm of mortals. Starting off with nothing except potential, she mimicked and stole the bodies of more powerful beings, learning and mastering the magic of the realm with every mind consumed. Upon achieving her ultimate goal of consuming and taking over a dragon's body as her own, she schemed utilizing this powerful host to its maximum potential.
One such foe was a mythical arcanist sent to stop her rampage, who instead befriended the dragon in a fellow pursuit of knowledge. The void creature was cruel, but there was a genuine love for knowledge behind the hungry eyes of the monster. Over the years the two grew close, until the mage tricked and imprisoned her deep within her tower. The void magic which composed Thea's body had twisted the mage's mind over the decades, driving them to insanity and mad for power... stealing away in the night never to be seen again.
For days she lay dormant, unable to escape, until the raw essence of her corrosive body weakened the glyphs holding her imprisoned. She escaped, angry, manic, and obsessed with revenge. Her scholarly mind turned to insanity, her dark power to conquest. These treacherous mortals will come to obey and desire only to please her. She would not be betrayed again, and they will all suffer her glorious majesty.
From this day forth she would be the master of her own fate...

I really like writing tragic characters, so having Thea's obsession with control and power be from a misunderstanding and just the physical aura of corruption she radiants seems appropriate.
She desires something closer than servants, but will never obtain it due to her own actions and her eldritch nature. The gaping hole in her psyche/heart only pushs her further to villainy as she desperately tries to address the shortfall with trinkets and knowledge
All she really desired was companionship in this alien and hostile world she was exiled to, driven to hatred and embracing the phobia of betrayal. Will Thea ever learn to trust in others again? Perhaps she can be redeemed, but what of her victims?
