Well, another day out in the FurAffinity community, and I decided to draw Sugar the Blue Retriever from  ThatBluePup. She was tough to draw with the fur color, hair color, and especially on how her body is depicted.

She has wider hips and it also creates a challenge for me to draw her and I used my dress/skirt method is where I draw a skirt or dress to find where the legs are and how big the tights might be. I also drew her large bow for her hair and even though it is off-centered, it makes her give more style.

I combined the shirt with the bra color of pink to make her feel special in a way.

I also did her pants and her collar with a vanilla ice cream cone, I originally was planning to do chocolate, I did not want to waste time.

Some of her physical features were her freckles on her muzzle, chest, and belly. Most of them were just Micron pens and I did her belly button as her feature. Usually, I do not feature bellybuttons on any of my characters.

Another thing that struck me was with the different illustrations on this character with and without her glasses. I decided to go with her glasses because I hardly draw characters that have glasses, if you count Bulu, Dipper, or Sheldon. The glasses use somewhat of a frame with the lens being completely transparent. It threw me off, but I solved the problem quickly.


After drawing this, I felt proud to step out of the Buck Brothers for a little bit and seeing how I may fit with modern society of drawing other characters I see while drawing on numerous stacks of copy paper.
