Acropole Concept | Imperium Draknir

A prominent feature of multiple cities in Imperial space is the acropole. Nicknamed "high cities" these towering district-sized megastructures sit like plateaus above the skylines around them as an entire urban space of their own.
First proposed conceptually to solve an urban sprawl crisis in multiple growing cities but quickly adapted into communities in of themselves, these giant spires became a signature mark of the skyline and the grand families that would administer over them, or call them home. But one should always ask, "where these stand now, what used to be there? What was cleared out for them to be built?"I once heard it said if you want to understand what a society values most, look for their grandest buildings. For historic societies that would be castles, temples, and palaces. Today it is the commercial skyscraper. For the Imperium Draknir it would be these. Cities-within-cities built as designer enclaves for the grand houses that dominate its high society.
I've always figured these structures embody both the good and the bad of the Imperium. These shining towers for the wealthy, built above the sprawl, beautiful and harmonic. No expense spared for the enjoyment of those living within. And likely burying some of it underneath for the sake of a few gardens.
For that, I've been running off this poem for several years:
Towards Alcanti you will find,
Their towers of gold and glass.
Heaven and glory is what they invite,
Hubris and vanity is what they cry.
(And for clarification, all that red stuff scattered over it? Alcanti's foliage is red)
