Otto otterbach's fishy lesson: The TMI of TMA
Translation of my terrible handwriting:
"Trymethylamine, or N(CH3)3, Is a byproduct of TMAO (Trymethylamine N-oxide). TAMO protects a majority of marine life (mostly saltwater fish) from extreme pressure and temperature changes that would otherwise damage the fishes muscles!
When fish start to oxidize (or decay), TMAO (odorless) degrades into Trymethylamine, which give fish that otterific stink!"
It's been a while but I'm surprisingly not dead yet! But this was actually hard to post because is have to type a long ass description of my otter boi's spiel...
(And yes, he is a gray muzzled sea otter. Oh the grizzly tales of fishing expeditions and finding an old sack of oysters and him being the only one to shovel it into the dumpster)
