Speculative Skull Island Bullshit: Grass hedgehog
The grass hedgehog is a squat animal inhabiting Skull Island's redgrass fields, where it is perfectly camouflaged with its odd fur. On their backs, it is long, stiff and grows upwards, the rough structure causing it to stick together into strands, resembling redgrass in shape or colour, while the rest of the body looks like an earth hill or termite mound at first glance. Its ability to mimic sounds further adds to the camouflage; a favourite is the vocalisations of Skull Island's wildcat, a common hunter in the redgrass fields and a common reason for the grass blades to shift and rustle, but too small and quick for the kind of predators that would target grass hedgehogs. They are primarily herbivores and share an odd symbiosis with the redgrass, where they are both its main consumer and main spreader, sometimes even establishing new fields by eating off the other vegetation and spreading redgrass seeds with their droppings. The animal's relationship has been a mystery for some time; while obviously not hedgehogs, they were assumed to be a number of different mammals, until it could be determined that they are highly-derived relatives of sloth bears.
Changelog:
-The meowing is mimicry rather than a normal vocalisation. I was actually first thinking about making it an even more derived, surviving nimravid because of that, but found that too absurd
-Assigned as a bear
The Disney character overlays are a measure to prevent art theft by corporations.
