"Back in the past, Mycandrakes were... an oddity so to speak. They were not corrupted by Mother's influence, but something else took over their evolutionary cycle by force. During the events of Cycle 9 there was a mycelium infection ravaging small portions of Planet Materia. These dark blue mushrooms would viciously infect any biological creature and take control of their mind. This infection would eventually spread all across its body internally and externally. These mushrooms were once an invasive species and were accidentally brought into this world through space junk and dwarves forgetting to wipe their boots off. Many Mandrakes taken over by Mother's influence would usually perish being exposed to these spores or they'd turn into "Red Mutants". However, Soddles on the other hand seemingly adapted and evolved from the exposure to these spores.

These Soddles would gain increased intelligence, strength, knowledge, and some believed the alien mushrooms to be sentient in nature as they uplifted a species. These "Mycandrakes" would grow a symbiotic relationship with these mushroom colonies and even wage war against Mother's Mandrakes. However, there was plenty of "Mushroom" wars as some would see it as constant infighting between the Mycandrakes. These same mushrooms would rapidly evolve, and it would soon devolve into total chaos as some became a parasite of a parasite. Wizard is a remnant of the past as he can even recall this planet without Mother's Influence.

Honestly, when I first met him, he was mixing soap bottles to make "potions", and I still find him to be more than a reliable friend. It's very hard to get any information about these mushrooms as they went entirely extinct after Cycle 9's destruction. The only mushrooms remaining are from in-stasis Mycandrakes and those are nowhere near as deadly or even show a sign of intelligent life within them."

Back then, I wanted to take a "less is more" approach, but... I think it's time to actually get fully into the grittier details about Mycandrakes. I originally went with that approach because I said "No one is going to read this anyways." and getting some rude comments about people not wanting to read... Well, it certainly did discourage me a bit too- but... I remembered something again, I do art, world building, etc, for myself and no one else, and I'm going to keep doing the things I enjoy lmfao. Also yes, Wizard and the Mycandrakes got an entire facelift.

There's still a lot to leave up to interpretation, but Thomza is extremely thorough with his work and the things he speaks about. It also allows me to give more character building, world building, etc, etc--

Fun Fact: I feel like I have to say it, but no- This was not inspired by the Minecraft mod with the mushrooms since I got comments about that elsewhere. If anything, the closest form of inspiration is the "puffmin" from Pikmin, but that's a super long stretch, and it's mostly just inspired by cordyceps. However, with them being a sentient, almost mind-controlling like species... Well, yeah- it's kind of hard to say where the direct origin point of inspiration comes from as I just wanted weird space mushrooms to go with my funny plant people.

Fun Fact 2: The original design was more goo-like in nature, and then the design before that was also made before the Mandrakes got a 100% redesign

Fun Fact 3: Wizard is known as one of the Pillars after Cycle 9's destruction who controls the various "mycelium lines" that connect through universes after "Mother"'s downfall.
