I recently got Dragon Quest XI, and I've been loving it so far! It's definitely got its own unique (and often pun-filled) charm, and some very lovable and entertaining characters! While I've yet to reach her boss fight, I've always found Avarith cute and amusing. She's a greedy dragon that tricked and/or intimidated a town into giving her whatever they valued most, from objects to people, for "safekeeping", only to run off with them. Interestingly, she seems to value what she takes more for how miserable the original owner is without it than for looks or monetary value. She's not the most pleasant person, somewhat full of herself, and a surprisingly tough boss, but her sheer eagerness to see a new treasure is honestly adorable, and her lisp is pretty entertaining. (It seems to be a thing with the type of dragon she is, all their s's come out as th's. That's actually the joke with her name; it's avarice, an old word for greed, if said with her lisp.)

You never do find out what became of her in the ending... but ending up in the care and collection of a spellbinding snake seems as fitting a finish as any.
