Coke-thrower in hand, crushing a giant pepsi can and clutching a trusty coke bottle, Pakesh looks over the field to intimidate any Pepsi-lovers that may have the misfortune of coming his way.
This is the final version of the Pakesh piece. I think it was supposed to be a detailed/colored sketch, or something, but I decided to just finish it up. I might try playing with some backgrounds digitally, but I think for now, it's pretty much done. :)
I hope it was worth the wait.

They're both pretty gimmicky. I mean, sure Pepsi became popular because it offered a larger size than Coke offered at the time (and for quite a while) and set Michael Jackson on fire..., but with Santa, polar bears, catchy jingles from "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing" to the "Always Coca-cola", and the introduction/collapse of New Coke which caused higher sales of Coke "Classic" after the fiasco, I think that Coke has its own gimmicks it plays. :)
Of course... I'm a Diet Coke drinker myself. :)

*smirks* Well, Coke has done all sorts of weird things too... Coke Vanilla, Coke with Lime, New Coke, Black Cherry Vanilla, and a bunch not even offered in the US. Yeah, Pepsi has done some interesting stuff, but I would say that "Crystal Clear Pepsi" is the biggest example of a change that wasn't about flavor, but just about doing something odd-ball to get attention. But at least it was a product, and not just advertising. :)
I think that this conversation has gone on far enough. I got a bit carried away too, but really talking about what companies name their products has nothing to do with the artwork I've posted. We could continue with PMs, but for now, I'm calling a public truce to our conversation unless it involves the artwork at hand. :) I hope you understand.
Heh and of course with the death of Pepsi comes the odd notice that the pepsico giant here in Canada is in trouble after the chains of tacobell/kfc/pizzahut had to file for bankruptcy protection this week which still is funny. I mean..its KFC for gods sake..who is any real competition to greasy chicken?.

Well, I know that
dogsoul and
oncacrottafeathers will be doing the Artists Alley for part of the con to cover costs, but I think that they both want to explore and enjoy the con this year too. But we'll be around... somewhere.
I'm glad you like it. I hope it's worth the wait.
Send me a PM with an Email address and I can send you a higher-rez version of the picture for your own uses if you'd like. :)
