Their escape was hampered as the ground shook under their feet. Those within the group who hadn't had both feet planted on the ground stumbled, the rest struggled to steady themselves as the quake persisted, growing stronger and more violent with each second.
A few made the mistake of turning their heads. Curiosity managing to temporarily override their innate desire for self-preservation. The sight behind them was, in a word, breathtaking. Though there were numerous ways to describe the cataclysm approaching, describing the sheer magnitude of it was a task nearly as monumental as escaping it was turning out to be. They'd been told that it was still hundreds of miles away. When thinking of such vast lengths one can't be blamed for succumbing to complacency when it came to the urgency at hand. They had never imagined anything could cross such a vast distance in such a short time...then again they hadn't imagined anything so large could exist either.
Even from across half the city, it was indescribably massive. A landscape of damp, green skin glittered in the sunlight as the behemoth's head parted the very clouds on its approach. Lake dwarfing eyes scrunched together in delight and green and red lips curled up in pure ecstasy. A maw spanning several streets in its length where a mountainous tongue resided, small gray boxes clinging to the slimy exterior of the impossibly massive pink muscle. Buildings being gobbled up, entire streets being scooped towards the giant amphibian's awaiting mouth and vanishing inside in a blink. The noises of untold destruction and chaos drowned out by the delighted and satisfied gasps of breath as the giant feasted upon the city, one densely populated handful at a time.
Those who had stopped to glance at their coming destruction regretted the choice as the giant raised his other hand into the air. A red-skinned palm large enough to hold a small town reached towards their section of the doomed city, ready to deliver them to the frog as another morsel to try to satiate his endless appetite.
