Tempo_McFlurry Art Summary 2023
It's that time of year again! These pieces are what I'd consider my best artwork I've done for each month, or where I learned something important. I feel like I say this every year, but I'm very happy with the work I've put out, especially when compared to the year before. I feel like I've figured out a good way of colouring my work like I've been saying often for a couple of years, so now it's mostly a matter of fine-tuning the process.
I've also slowed down my output this year to focus on quality instead of quantity. Back in 2019 & 2020, I was completing about 180 finished pieces each year (so about 1 finished piece every other day)! It was incredibly helpful in learning the tools I had at my disposal as well as finding a direction I wanted my art to take. I've slowed down that pace ever since, with only about 100 finished pieces done this year in 2023, and I think the quality of my work really shows!
I think I know what I'd like to focus on next year: colour palettes! Nearly all of my work so far has used colours close to their source material, so I'd like to try and see if I can get used to colouring my work in fun and wacky colour combinations.
And of course, last year's Art Summary is HERE for comparison. It's really neat to see my work get cleaner over time. Also now that I'm looking back, I'd like to try and do some more dynamic posing, even on basic character portraits. There's so much more personality I could draw out of a character by simply changing the pose. I'll have to keep that in mind for 2024. Man I can't wait to see what projects I work on in 2024!
