[Edit; I Derped with the submission file. Full Screen or Ctrl+F5 if you're seeing the crab]
Though the riverbed may have dried years ago, life still dwells within.
When the sun rises to heat the planet and when it lowers, the riverbed becomes a road, used by the creatures who are lured by its much sought after shade.
It is also used by the predators of the world; The hive dwellers have long built their nests near the it to scavenge the leftovers of whatever may be unlucky enough to dwell to long into the day.
The night-time hunters, who swoop in during the short hours to pluck an easy meal.
And the sand-crabs, descendants of the original creatures who lived within the depths.
However, when the sun reaches its apex, only the daytime hunters can be found. Turning over rocks in search for leeches or crabs.
Slowly, the river fills with sand, blown in by the planets harsh winds. And one day will be as flat as the vast plains that surround.
