Cw: blood and silliness
Yes, another chapter of this very old story! I'm going to mention that it's old everytime because this does NOT reflect my current writing skills.
----
Later that night….
The party was in full swin. There were rowdy teenagers there from all over the neighboorhood. Firefox decided to set up a stage so everyone could sing a song for some entertainment. She sang first, to chatch attention. Firefoxwas still really mad at Fox, so she sang “Fighter”, a song about a girl who was still strong, even though her boyfriend had dumped her.
After a few more singers, Fox got up on the stage. Firefox didn’t exactly care to hear him sing, so she sat near Falco and Auto, in hopes to strike up a conversation. But Auto, the joker, got into the pool shortly after, and Falco wanted to watch his buddy sing. Reluctantly, Firefox turned to the stage, the second Fox put the microphone to his mouth.
The second he began to sing, Firefox was completly amazed. Fox sang a song called “Numa numa”, which is about a guy trying to woo his lover. Not to mention, it was very heartfelt and moving. Fox secretly dedicated this song to Firefox, and she knew that. Fox’s boot taped with such a rythm to the song, that the beat acually reached Firefox’s heart, and brought a tear to her eye.
“Yo, Firefox? You okay?” Falco asked.
Firefox quickly wiped away the tear. “Yeah, I just got some sand in my eye.” She replied.
Phoenix hopped up on the table. “Ahh, yes. The sweet scent of Love is in the air.” She said in a voice barely louder than a whisper.
“Whaat?” Firefox and Falco asked at the same time.
“Nothing.” Phoenix replied.
Suddenly, aplause enterupted their conversation. They all claped, too, while Phoenix hooted and thumped her talons on the plastic table.
“Hey guy. How’d I do?” Fox asked, as he joined the others at their table.
“Two feathers up, bro.” Falco smiled and gave Fox the “feathers-up” sign.
“I loved it, my dear.” Phoenix complemented.
Firefox completly forgot she was mad at Fox. “You were amazing!” She exclaimed, before hugging Fox tightly.
Falco shifted his beak uncomfortably, and his tail feathers fluffed up with jealousy. Even the mohawk feathers on his head stood on end with longing.
“Don’t worry, dearie. You’ll find some on some day.” Phoenix said as she put a comforting wind on Falco’s shoulder. “Ooo, and a mighty fine one at that!” She added, chatching a glimpse into Falco’s future.
Falco was about to comment, when a horrible screetching noise was heard directly above them. “Ah frink it all! They found me.” Phoenix said without looking up. She took a few things out of the leather pouch she was carring across her back. Phoenix sliped on some battle claws, and put some armor pieces that had sharp hooks on the end onto both her wings.
The first owl attack with such a force, he almost knocked Phoenix off the table. But she stood her ground.
Then, another, armed, owl joined the other owl, and together they attacked Phoenix. Phoenix would take none of this.
She launched herself into the air, ripped the banages off her wings, and took to the starry sky near the owls. With an angry battle cry, Phoenix lungged herself at one of her attackers, and dug her sharp battle claws deep into his feathery belly. The owl uttered a deep cry of pain as Phoenix shook him off her talons and over the small white fence.
Phoenix fought the other one, but in the end, Falco pulled him out of the air, and chucked him over the wall as well.
Phoenix stood panting on the edge of the fence, blood driping from her battle claws. Quite suddenly, yet another owl, a great horned, appeared in front of her. Phoenix advanced towards him, but was too slow. The great horned scratched her face with his own battle claws.
Phoenix coverd and, despite her pain, managed to grab onto the owl using the sharp hooks on her wings. She ripped the hooks out of the owl’s flesh, and gabed them back in again over and over. Finally, Phoenix flew high up into the air with her attacker in her talons, and droped him on the other side of the fence.
“What the…? I didn’t know owls attacked each other with strange armor on their face, wings, and talons.” It was Titanic. He’d joined them as Phoenix was taking off her bloody battle claws.
“Those owls were from my world. They are called hagsfiends. The very last few of their kind. A large group of hagsfiends found the cave portale before I did, and ended up here, in your world.” Phoenix explained. “Many a great owl was killed by the hagsfiends. But not me. I am the greatest worrior of my time and age. I invented those, Wing Hooks, I call them. Specially designed for battle. I taught owls who became famous and now teach others.” Phoenix continued.
“Yikes, dude. I’d hate to be on the hags’ team!” Auto exclaimed.
“So, uh, Phoenix? Now that your wing appears better, want to go for a swim?” Denali asked as she walked up to the owl.
Phoenix scanned the skies for any signs of hagsfiends. She finally answered after she’d put her battle claws and Wing Hooks away. “Yeah, sure. Why not? The night is still young, eh?” Phoenix replied.
Everyone jumped in the nice cold pool.
“My word Titanic! You were practicly born in the water!” Phoenix exclaimed, while she sat on the edge of the pool, dipping her talons in the water.
“Thanks! I’ve been swiming for quite a while, but I’m not exactly a pro yet.” Titanic grinned and sliped back underwater like a fish.
“Let’s see how you swim.” Denali said.
“Allright, but heed my warning: I’m a bit rusty. I havn’t swam in….Glaux knows how long.” Phoenix told her.
“I’m sure you’ll do fine. And don’t worry, we’re all here if you need help.” Denali urged.
“Well, if I must, I must.” Was all Phoenix said. She jumped up into the air, and beak-dived in the water with a slightly small splash.
Everyone stood back in amazement as the small owl swam around in graceful circles in the water. She leapt out over and over again in a breath taking watery ballet.
“Wow, Phoenix! Where’d you learn to swim like that?!” Titanic asked once Phoenix had stopped for a rest.
"The animals who saved me in the forest that one night so many moons ago; Liz McAdams and her sister Ellie. They used to take me to the pool all the time, teaching me how to swim, even though it is not my nature." Phoenix replied.
"Sweetness." Auto said.
"Dito." Falco repeated.
Phoenix blushed slightly. She happened to notice Firefox and Fox were swiming at opposite sides of the pool, not even looking at each other.
“Why aren’t you over there with her?” Phoenix asked Fox.
“I dunno.” Fox replied as he flicked his ear, sending droplets of water all over.
Phoenix closed her clear, extra eyelid, which shielded her eye from the droplets. “Oh-la-la. Get over there!” She exclaimed before shaking water out of her red feathers.
Once Fox had finally left, Phoenix perched on the hard plastic handle of a pool raft. Auto, who was allready on the raft, turned to her. “Hello, Auto.” Phoenix smiled.
“Hi.” Auto sighed.
“What’s wrong, hon?” Phoenix asked him. Before Auto could answer, Phoenix spotted a large dog-like winged creature running towards her. “Ahh! Get away from me!” Phoenix screetched as Ash nudged her over and and over with his nose. Phoenix’s feathers were still quite wet from her swim, so she couldn’t exactly fly away.
Ash batted the owl with his massive paw, right where the hagsfiend had snagged her face. Enough was enough. Phoenix thought. She angrily swiped at Ash with a sharp talon. She got him right on the tip of his muzzle. Ash yelped and backed up.
“Ash!” Sonic and Denali ran up to him.
“Sorry, Phoenix. He’s just….a title too curious.” Sonic said.
“Curious? Don’t you mean bloodthirsty? He was trying to attack me!” Phoenix stated.
Ash cocked his head at Sonic as if to say: “Is she talking about me?” “No really, he didn’t mean to. Honest, he’ll never do it again.” Sonic urged.
“Allright. But, if….” Phoenix stoped and stood up straight, listening.
“What is it?” Denali asked.
“Alas!” Was all Phoenix said as she shakily flew up and over the fence. She came back a few seconds later, a dead mouse dangling from her bloodstained talons.
“Don’t worry, this little fellow died of natural causes.” Phoenix announced as she droped her chatch on the raft. She bit a few pieces off the rodent.
“Oh, where are my manners? Would you like some?” Phoenix asked Auto.
Auto looked a little green. “I’ll pass…” He said. Auto scootched away from the dead animal so far that he fell right off the raft.
Falco laughed and swam over to him. Auto stood up and laughed, too.
Phoenix chuckled. After she had eaten the rest of her mouse, Phoenix flew up to perch on the balcony railing, and fell asleep watching everybody swim.
The next thing she knew, she was being gently shaken awake. Everything was dark and still down below. Phoenix turned around to see Denali’s blue face close to her own.
“Want to come inside? There are plenty of nice perchs in there. And aren’t owls supposed to be nocturnal.” Denali asked.
“Correct; owls are supposed to be nocturnal. But I learned the ways of the animals who rescued me. And yes, I’d be delighted to come inside with you. It’s far too dangerous to be out here alone.” Phoenix jumped off the railing and followed Denali inside.
Denali walked upstairs, where everyone else was playing cards at the table. Phoenix perched on the chandieiier above everyones heads to watch. From up there, she could see the whole cat family in the living room. Fyro and his brothers were wrestling their sisters.
“Oh, um, how….delightful. You’ve got cats.” Phoenix said.
“Yeah. That’s Fyro, Ash, Ember, Oreo, Bling-Bling Crookshanks, and their mother and father; Marion and Jinx.” Denali pointed to each of the cats.
“I see. Bonsoir!” Phoenix exclaimed as she waved at the cats with one of her large, red-feathered wings. The cats stoped playing for a second, waved back, and went back to their game.
“Cat whisperer!” Auto exclaimed.
“Phoenix, do you know how to speak in French? Bonsoir….” Denali said.
“Yes, I do know a bit of French, dearie. ‘Bonsior’ means goodevening, I do believe.” Phoenix replied.
Denali grinned. “Comment tali vu?” She asked.
“Bein, merci. Et vu?” Phoenix said.
“Exellonte!” Denali exclaimed.
“Say what now?” Falco butted in.
“Denali asked: ‘How are you?” Phoenix answered: ‘Fine, thanks. And you?’ Denali answered: ‘Excellent!’” Firefox explained.
“Oh. Kooleo.” Auto said.
Phoenix began to whisper a french song to herself while she watched the others get back to their game of Uno. Then, she noticed little Ember staring up at her with her big, brown eyes. Phoenix cooed softly to her. Ember mewed.
Marion cmae over and rubbed up against her head. The other kittens (including Jinx) came over, too, and looked up at the owl as if to say: ‘Come down and play with us!’
Phoenix blinked. Then smiled. “Okay, just try not to attack me.” Phoenix joked to herself as she flew down to play with the kitties. She wrestled with them like she was one of their own. All of the cats took turns affectionetly rubbing up against Phoenix’s head, and she did the same. Phoenix even took the brave little ones for rides around the room, safe in her talons.
Soon enough, the little kittens began to get sleepy. Ash curled up with Oreo in the cat bed in a little nook near the TV. Five minutes later, the only cats still up were Marion, Jinx, and Ember. Phoenix sat and watched the cats play around on the floor.
Suddenly, Marion’s ears perked up as she heard the chupacabra Ash aproaching. She meowed good night to Phoenix, and then ushered her family to their den. Phoenix watched as Ash curiously poked his head inside the den. Marion hissed and growled while Jinx batted Ash’s head with his paws.
After a while, Ash retreated back, and troted downstairs to Sonic’s room.
“Never underestimate the power of the feline.” Phoenix stated as she flew back up to the chandelier. She watched the cat family get comfortable, then looked to the others playing cards. Soon after the next Uno game began, Phoenix fell fast asleep.
The next morning at around two o’clock, Phoenix woke up. No one else was up yet, so she decided to go back to bed. But something kept her awake; a soft scratching noise acumpanied by a quiet mewing sound. Phoenix opened an eye. Ember was siting on the table, scratching the wood and pawing the air; calling Phoenix to come and join her.
“You’re up early, young un’.” Phoenix said as she joined the kitten on the table. Ember meowed and positioned herself at one end of the table. She slid forward on her belly like a penguin, and zoomed all the way to the other side of the polished tabletop.
That looks fun! Phoenix thought, and she, too, slid around the table like a penguin.
After about half an hour of sliping and sliding, the two friends fell asleep next to each other on the table.
