A little bit of tedious stuff.)
It was a long time, but I'm alive and working!))
Here some compilation and part of Academy Lore:
The structure and organization of the Academy.
"I don't know... They may wear weird clothes and shoot lightning bolts out of their asses. But they're a pleasure to deal with. As long as they pay me in gold and silver, and there's always good booze and all the whores on this damn continent waiting for me in their Harbor, I'll keep my mouth shut."
Captain Ulvin Bjorn of the "Humpback Seagull".
The Academy has a long and illustrious history of existence. It is said that it was once the site of a majestic rocky peak that ripped through the sea and into the sky. And it was torn to pieces by the Star Dragon, the first of the divine children of the Mother of Stars, who came to this world. He leveled the peak to the granite base, in which the Dragon God burned the first magic circle with the aura of his divine power itself. The Dragons and Draconids who came after him, possessing the magical gift, marked this place of power with stone pillars-mangiras. For many years this place was, a colossal man-made temple in the open air and only much later the foundations of what would become the Academy were laid around and above it. Ironically, the once great peak rose again above the sea surface, though now it bore little resemblance to the ancient creation of nature.
The Academy has a very complex and intricate internal structure, to which the best architects of the Dragons and Draconids of the Old Empire had a hand. Over the centuries it has been growing new towers and passages, blocks of additions of all shapes and sizes piled on top of each other. Though the current structure is largely supported by magic and enchantments, its inhabitants are organized into a simple vertical system.
Students and Applicants are the Academy's most numerous inhabitants. They are Draconids of all clans and many other peoples who have come to the Academy to learn knowledge and wisdom. Although it is not cheap to attend the Academy, many powerful lords of Asteria from all over the world send their offspring here. Only the Academy teaches almost every possible discipline, and within its walls there are Masters of every kind of business, no matter how complex or unbelievable.
Acolytes are the second largest part of the Academy's population. Most of them are Draconids from various parts of the Undercity, but other races are not uncommon among them. While Students and Applicants usually spend several years at the Academy, Acolytes are those who need to master a complex craft or multiply their knowledge in more advanced sciences. Only from this stage the study of magic is allowed. Acolytes also live in the Academy itself and the small settlement of "Little Harbor" adjacent to it.
Adepts are the main scientific and magical asset of the Academy. There are very few representatives of other nationalities among them, for only those who have decided to tie their life and future to the Academy become Adepts. They all teach or work in numerous workshops and laboratories. Their to-do list is long: tending to the books and scrolls in the countless archives and libraries, assisting Masters and Masters in their research, and organizing and supervising Apprentices and Acolytes.
Apprentices are a relatively small group of students at the Academy. All of them, in one way or another, have shown remarkable talent and skills that have attracted the attention of Adepts, Masters, and sometimes even the Masters themselves! Such gifted individuals are given exclusive access to the deepest secrets of every craft and art, under close supervision of course. This is the great part, but many sincerely sympathize with the Apprentices, as Students and Acolytes at least have free time for recreation and entertainment.
Masters - the highest level of recognition for the merit of one's craft and skill. It can take many decades before an Adept is recognized as worthy, and their accomplishments are unconditionally respected and unquestioned. Such outstanding individuals receive grants and their own workshops to perfect their craft. Their opinions are listened to by the Masters themselves, and their expertise on some matters is worth an entire library. Great Alchemists, Mage Blacksmiths, Engineers, Pharmacists, Arcane Calligraphers, Familiar Creators, Architects and Astromancers are just a few of their professions.
The Lord-Regent is formally the head of the entire Draconid society, but in the case of the Academy his power is not absolute. In a sense, the Academy is a kind of state within a state. It has its own customs and laws, its own internal guards and ships. The Academy itself is a vassal of the Undercity and the Lord Regent as long as its autonomy is respected and its rights honored. Lord Nor Feiram honors this alliance and knows full well that the Academy has been standing here for much longer than the Undercity.
Supreme Master - This great office was formerly held by powerful Dragons. Many generations of Dragon Mages ruled the Academy, until the tragic death of Maliek the Master of Secrets. After his death, the Dragons, relinquished their claim to the throne of the Academy, thus provoking a crisis of power and causing concern for the Undercity. Thankfully this moment of indecision and doubt was swept away by Asterion, who volunteered to become the first ever Supreme Master Draconid. His right empty eye socket was still oozing blood, and his superbly tailored robes could not hide the absence of his arm. Despite the murmurings and disapproval of many Craftsmen and Masters, the newly-announced Supreme Master assumed his powers. He was presented with the re-forged seal of the Academy, the key and symbol of his status as lord of this ancient edifice. Since that day, the Academy has changed and will never be the same again.
*Author's Note: There are also highly specialized positions and titles. Senior Archivist, Headman of Little Harbor, Keeper of the Keys and Secrets, and many others that are exceptions to the simple vertical system of power of the Academy.
"This Tower, like this World will burn in due time. Gods don't throw words to the wind, especially Him. The Faceless Lord has already turned the clock of the Last Days and there is no stopping its course. But I'll be damned if I leave everything to the mercy of the coming Doom... I'll make them remember... I'll make them scream in my claws... And when but at the End Times can one return home triumphantly?"
Elias the Apostate, exiled Master.
