The Candy Policy Part 1 (Comm by SWATThefox)
Despite it being a bookshop, the Quiant Corner as it was known, had the quirk of selling other things. From knick-knacks, to Antiques, to local art pieces, to...Candy. The Candy Section, as it was simply known, wasn't much to take note of. It was just one shelf in this already big store, tucked away in the corner between the Antiques and the big double-doors to the storage room at the back. Naki, one of the employees there, was the one put in charge of re-stocking the section when new candies were brought in. And one morning before Noon struck it's bell, he came in from the doubledoors, wheeling in a few boxes of purple boxes with swirly "W"'s on them.
"Ugh, f-finally," He huffed as he stopped the trolley, then called out, "Hey, Ren, the new stock from Wonka is in!" A small snort was heard from the book section, and with heavy steps, Ren came around the corner to the Candy Section. He grinned eagerly when he saw the boxes, "Oh great! That was pretty quick!" He stood at the other end of the trolley and pulled a box closer to him, Naki smiling a bit as well, "H-heh, yeah, i'm surprised too. The delievery folk were pretty nice, even if they were kinda odd." Naki also grabbed a box and used a claw to open it, already beginning to stack a few boxes of Gollyicious Gumdrops onto the shelf...pausing when he heard Ren chomping down on a chocolate bar, turning to him with a raised brow. "Uh...?"
"..Whafph?" Ren said with a chocolate bar halfway in his mouth, then, pushed it in and swallowed it, "I'm taste testing, this is something all store-owners do." That merely made the dragon squint skeptically, "Uh..n-no that's not really..." Naki sighed as the horse was already "taste-testing" a Scrumdiddlyumptious bar, focusing back on the box he was on. He swear, that horse's greed was gonna get him in big trouble...but that thought got side-lined when he saw a gold gum packet,pulling it out and holding it in his hand. "Hey, what's this?" He asked to Ren aloud...to which the horse gasped a bit excitedly and snatched it out of the dragon's hand.
"Oh THIS! I didn't think they'd actually include it, but they did! That haggling paid off!" Ren said grinning ear-to-ear, then looked at Naki and merely smirked, "This is a Three-Course-Dinner gum, it's something super pricey they sell but i've heard it's worth it! The reviews said so, anyhoo." Ren opened up the packet, Naki questioning, "Well, what makes it so expensive?" 'And is that coming out of the store's budget?' He thought. This wasn't the first time Ren invested in something odd that was...expensive. "Oh, simple, it's experimental." The horse repiled, tossing aside the packet after skimming over the big red warning label and starting to unwrap the gum stick he pulled out. "W-wait, experimental?" Naki raised a brow, "Isn't that...risky to eat it then without looking more into it? I mean, research is always important-"
"Look Naki," Ren interjected, "It's store policy here, any candies i got for the candy section, I have to try." Naki raised his brow again, crossing his arms, "B-but shouldn't you have read the warning label first? L-like," He gulped, "It could be really dangerous-" "Naaaki," The fancy-suited horse cooed, "Why spoil myself of finding out what the danger is? Mmh, sides, I'm quite looking forward to his dessert part..." And without anymore interruption, he plopped it into his mouth and began to chew away. His eyes lit up after a bit, exclaiming, "..Oh, terrific! This is amazing! I can actually feel Tomato soup pouring down my throat!" Naki merely sighed and went to pick up the packet, figuring if Ren wasn't going to at least read the warning label, he would.
"Mmmh, Roast beef and baked potato...Naki you are missing out, this stuff is authentic! It's gonna fly off the shelves!" Ren exclaimed, turning to the dragon...then chuckled, raising a brow, "What's with that worried look? Is it actually bad?" Naki barely really registered on what Ren asked at first, his eyes were just...wide with a bit of terror but lots of worry, for the warning label in big, bold text warned for whoever chewed it to not reach the- "Ohhh, wait, new flavour! Blueberry pie and ice cream!..Meh, not my favorite, but still good." Ren exclaimed, not noticing how Naki went a bit pale at the sight of...Ren's snout starting to turn violet. Ren grunted a bit, rubbing at his gurgling stomach, "Ooh...makes me feel a bit funny, actually..."
