Born and raised in Sinnoh, Straal did not have the best of an early life. He was born as the third and youngest in his family, and was constantly put down by his older sister and brother, as well as both of his parents, often being called 'a mistake' and that he would 'never amount to any good'. He was often subjected to embarrassing and cruel bullying by his older siblings and their friends in school, including public embarrassment during a school talent show.
The moment he was able, Straal dropped out of school and moved far away from Sinnoh, going all the way to Paldea to get away from the region that has caused him a plethora of mental and even physical harm. In Paldea, Straal worked to get a boating and even a flying license, and ran his own personal cab service in the region to make a living on his own. Despite the turnaround in his life however, he was always deeply bothered by the past, and as a result, was often extremely dismissive and uninterested in making friends with anyone else, aside from Vuis.
After saving Vuis' life in Area Zero, the two had quickly become friends, and Straal even became Vuis' roommate in his apartment in Medali City. The two often had a comical love-hate relationship with one another. But no matter how many times Straal gave Vuis the middle finger (For what ever varying reasons), the two remained as steadfast friends.
Additional Facts:
-Straal can actually play the flute and the piano! However events of his childhood had led him to abandon his ability or willingness to try to ever play said instruments ever again.
-Straal is very hesitant to get into relationships, which led Vuis to assume that for the longest time, Straal was asexual. In truth, Straal was just paranoid of being hurt by others again.
-Straal's flight cab in Paldea is carried by Corvisquires as opposed to Squawkabilly. Straal finds the latter bird to be 'stupid' and 'annoying'.
-Straal's blood type is O-
