I bet this one had steam coming out the preacher's ears:

Dylan, for me, is two people. Early Dylan... before he started drawling out his vocals... is intelligent and smart and a joy to listen to. Later his voice, for me anyways, became hard to 'enjoy'... but his music and his writing? That was always great and only got better with time. I can listen to him when I am in the mood. Arlo... was... interesting. Loved his voice. Loved his story-telling. Loved his covers of other's music. His own stuff kinda left me in 'meh' land. Not bad... just not incredible. Perhaps that's because I enjoyed his father's work so much? Who knows. Music is subjective to the listener.
I don't list to Dylan much despite my dad being a massive fan. He actually gave me the middle name Dylan after him. I will admit that he is a fantastic songwriter from what I've listened to, but a lot of times his performance just isn't want I want to listen to most of the time.
Also the preacher reacting that way to something as innocuous as Lay Lady Lay. I can't even imagine how they reacted a few years later with the music that was coming out in the 70s. They probably had a heart attack when they heard Peter Frampton's 'I'm In You.'
