Tadaa~ From the ever so lovely Azzai! <3 A little what-if where these two wolves decided to throw down and Nava was too late to react in time.
Story time!
"HA!" Niju scoffed. "The old one thinks tree's and grass can talk?! It's time to realize that OUR leader has lost the ability to lead!"
"How DARE you say that!" Taku spat out.
"Yes, Nava has always lead us well!" a bystander wolf responded.
growling, muscles tensing, teeth baring. All Taku could hear now was his own heart beat racing. Anger began to consume him, lunging out after the black and blue wolf going for his neck. Niju however was a dirty fighter. If strength alone wasn't going to win, he knew he'd have to go for the low blows. Anything to win. Niju sunk his own fangs into his vulnerable paw, upon impact the mahogany and white wolf screamed through Niju's black fur.
Taku didn't care however, usually now on the defensive after sacrificing hammering force. But the old him began to come out again. That old aggressive version him, pushing through the pain and letting it fuel his anger more and more towards the disrespectful wolf, sinking his teeth deeper through the mane on the other lupines back.
'How could he?' Taku thought. Niju was treated quite well, if not better than all the wolves. Even given a near apprenticeship before he did, but somewhere down the line he had changed. Nava was like a father to all of them and he'd dare not let this mistreatment go unpunished. and then it came to him, He was changing too. He couldn't let this get to him. Taku dare not turn out like Niju has.
"Stop!!" the old one cried out.
Taku's eye's widened, jumping back away from the battle. He remembered what the wise one had taught him; "Patience. Do not let that old beast out, do not lose yourself in the void of anger. Let it flow away like the cooling river." he recited with a big sigh, he closed his eyes, finally calming down. "Yes Nava, forgive me..." he finished.
"Whats wrong? Is that all you can muster? C'mon. Show me more of that hatred you have!" Niju taunted. "No. I will obey what our leader says. He is one of integrity. unlike you." Taku said looking at his trio; Yak, Nuk and Sumac. Taking his injured paw and began to lick the wounds. "You three would be wise to no longer follow him..."
Niju eyed his three followers and growled turning to them who, looking confused yet now fearful at his gaze. "Don't. You. Dare!" the three whimpered backing up in submission. "I think Taku may have a point." Sumac whispered. "Yeah, I'm tired of being afraid of him." Yak seconded. "Who's afraid?" Nuk exclaimed.
The meeting continued and no clear decision was made, a second one would be held later that night after everyone was cooled down. Taku groaned at his injury, almost limping but bearing through the pain.
Upon passing the visitors, one of them spoke to him; the female. "I thought that was...honorable, of what you did back there for Nava." eyeing her at a glance, he shook his head. "I would have lost."
"I think you could have taken him-" Aleu began to say but was cut off. "No," Taku shook his head again. "Not to him, but to myself." He finished.
Aleu took a moment to try and understand what he meant. Her father stepped beside her, "Anger can be just a big of an enemy as Niju can." Balto said, to which she nodded. "I know a certain bully back at Nome just like him. Its always best to not let someone like them ruffle your fur." he eyed Niju, then back to the auburn one.
"You're a good wolf." Balto complimented. Taku looked at Balto with a solemn look and and walked on, towards the old one.
"I'm sorry Nava. I should have-," Taku began but the elder shook his head. "You're forgiven. I'm glad you decided to end it before it escalated. You remembered my teachings well, I am proud. I only wish Niju would have recognize the same." He finished looking onto Niju with a sad expression. "Come, let's get your leg healed up." Nava lead on to the nearest lake. "Yes, Nava." Taku followed.
