"Rydw i mor falch eich bod chi'n ddiogel, ond mae'n boen fy nghalon i wybod eich bod wedi colli popeth. Byddwch yn ddiogel yn Samoa Americanaidd, fy kaikaina."
As a follow-up to this pic here, when Wendy heard of the wildfires that wrecked havoc on her best overseas friend, Aiya's, hometown of Lahaina (which she visited one month prior), she was devastated. She was awe struck by the shear beauty of the small western Maui town that Aiya had called home since birth, she returned home to Wrexham (which by then the rains and flooding had subsided) with beloved memories of her visiting a beach and learning to surf (somewhat) for the first time. By the time news of the fires had reached the U.K., the first thing she did was try to contact Aiya to see if she was okay. After days of no luck, Aiya finally reached out to Wendy to let her know she was okay, as in the time of Wendy's contact attempts, she and her family living in Lahaina were in the process of evacuating the island and taking refuge in Tafuna, American Samoa (her father's hometown). Relieved, Wendy organized a few of her family, friends, and co-workers at her historical society to show up on a beach in northern Wales, all dressed in Hawaiian themed swimwear, Wendy dawning the same swimsuit her bestie gifted her while in Lahaina, all holding flowers to show solidarity for Aiya and her family. The entire Ottar'a family received a photo of the Trevelyan family in this state, they were taken aback by the kindness shown by one of Aiya's best friends from the other side of two different oceans.
