Every time I see a great dane it is being walked by a small woman, who, due to the size of the great dane, appears smaller than she probably would if she were walking a smaller dog. There is a woman I regularly see walking a great dane along a road near my mom's house, one with a coat of grey with black splotches of varying size. I also saw a woman walking with a Holstein-colored one, off-leash; it looked like they were friends out for a stroll, and from their casual manner like they could have been having a conversation. I always wanted one as a kid, but my mom never liked big dogs (except for the 110-pound greyhound she has now). They seem to be gentle dogs, and I read that they don't bark often. I don't see a lot of them around.
