CHAPTER 15
“Well, we'd better get going. Beach enough for today and I'm starving. I would like to go home, freshen up and rest. Like I said, I'm not the young man I used to be anymore.” Travis said stroking Serenity's ears.
“Prrr… As you want, love. Let's say goodbye to the chakats and renzar. Baiyoshai, you come?”
“Yes, although it is nice to feel the Chakastra rays on my skin and face, it has been enough for me too. The heat is killing me heh heh.” Answered the skunk wagging hys fluffy tail. After approaching the playing field, the group said goodbye to Lorna, Gerak-Nee, and the rest of those present, thanking them for the invitation.
"Thank you for coming, Shir Serenity, Mr. Travis" Chakat Lorna said in turn, very happy, saying goodbye with a hug.
“Lorna, Gerak, very well done. We'll see each other at the beginning of the week at work. Enjoy the day! Tail High!
"Tail High!" Lorna replied with a smile.
"Yeah, bye boss," the rakshani added, waving with his prosthetic arm. After watching the group of renzar females chat among themselves, Gerak-Nee was encouraged to talk to them. He didn't think it was necessary for someone to introduce them.
In another sector of the field, Natany, together with Sachi and Rhealle commented on what happened in the game.
"What the hell does Cala have in her head!" Rhealle exclaimed annoyed. “How could she do something like that to that girl! She is a fool! grrr!”
“I honestly thought the crash was an accident. Wow, Cala has been very strange these days” Natany added thoughtfully.
"Ulk is also to blame for this and he didn't even know about it!" Sachi declared also upset by the situation.
"Grrr... The males only dedicate themselves to having a good time, without measuring the consequences!" Rhealle bellowed.
“Yes, but let's agree that nobody forced that polar bear to wallow with Ulk. She also must have understood what could happen. You know how territorial we Renzar are with other species."
"Yes, Natany, but those behaviors are part of the past, from the Unity Period, like the Justat... Its no longer have a place in our idiosyncrasies, much less in Chakona" Sachi replied.
"You're right about that. And where is that girl now? I don't see her anywhere," said the police officer.
"I do not know. I lost sight of her a while ago. I feel bad for her,” Sachi added.
“This can be classified as a minor incident. Don't worry. Surely she decided it was best to get away from her. However, if she decides to file a complaint in court, would you be willing to testify against our friend, Sachi?" Rhealle said in a questioning tone. The renzar nurse, looking at both police females, only managed to grab her head and move it from one side to the other..
"Grrr... By Grom!" she exclaimed.
At that moment, a Rakshani with striking blue fur approached them from the grandstand area.
"Hello everybody. I wanted to congratulate you all for the great game you played despite the defeat. My name is Gerak-Nee,” declared the big male, wagging his tail.
"Hey! Thank you very much Mr. Gerak” Rhealle replied with a smile.
“You work with Esteban, right? Nice to meet you Gerak. I'm Natany” said the female police officer.
"The pleasure is mine. Esteban has told me about you. You are the sister of his father"
"Heh, heh, heh... That's right" replied Natany between giggles.
"Wait... I have a feeling I've seen you somewhere else," Rhealle said suddenly, taking a closer look at Gerak-Nee.
"Uh? .. Well... It's possible" The rakshani replied a little annoyed.
“Hmmm… Let me think… In the city nightclub, a rakshani similar to you works… Or is you?”
"What? N… No… Of course not… Many people mistake me for that guy. I'm a military engineer and I work at the spaceport,” Gerak-Nee said hurriedly.
"Oh what a shame. Because I adore that boy's way of dancing Heh heh heh… Well. I have to go Natany. I'll see you later at headquarters. Goodbye Gerak” Rhealle finished before leaving.
"Goodbye Rhealle" Natany replied, left alone with the great Rakshani.
Regthar returned to the field of play carrying Esteban sitting on his shoulders. Sorah and Lilethe quickly approached them.
"Esteban, is everything okay?" His mother asked with concern.
"Yes Sorah. I'm used to trouble, I guess."
“Esteban, as I told you, now you are not alone. We will face whatever it takes together!" Lilethe said hugging him affectionately after descending from the renzar.
"That's right. We are a family. We will always support you"
“I know that I can count on all of you. Thank you very much” replied the human feeling happy for the support. At that moment, Chakat Blackspots approached them wearing his flashy bathing suit.
"Esteban. I come to say goodbye. It was fun. Thanks for inviting me."
"Are you also leaving Shir Blackspots?" Sorah inquired.
"Yes, Im sorry. I have to go back to the Space Station and then home. My Nightwalker patner is waiting for me.”
"I understand lieutenant. Thank you for coming" Said the human giving him a hug.
"Esteban. Remember what I told you. Go see Ban Skunktaur at the asylum. I don't know why, but he wants to talk to you"
"I will Lieutenant Blackspots"
"Esteban... Even before Aldorah Krim confessed to her involvement in that kidnapping organization, I always had the feeling that something strange happened with Ban and with... Vroeg"
"Uh?... What do you mean, Shir Blackspots?"
“I can't explain it now… But maybe it's just my nonsense. Well I have to go. Tail high!”
“Tail high!” They all said, saying goodbye to the chakat.
"And what will we do now? asked Lilethe suddenly.
“You and Esteban could continue having fun for a while longer at the beach. I'll go get Hajo and come home. Are you coming love? Sorah said visibly exhausted from the heat and exertion.
“Of course honey. I'm with you. See you later, little ones" Regthar said, taking Sorah by the hand towards the VTP of the renzar.
“Lilethe, what do you think if we go with Jhonny, Vera to a fun place? Remember that they will travel to Bonifacio tomorrow, and we may not see them for a long time” Esteban declared, taking Lilethe's hands.
"I agree. Maybe Doren and Rena want to come too” The skunk replied wagging its fluffy tail.
"Let's ask them. Hey Lilethe, did I tell you that you look beautiful in that beach bra?”
“Hee hee hee… You didn't tell me. And you look very sexy in that tiny bathing suit”
“Heh heh heh…” Esteban laughed, blushing. Then they both hugged each other and gave each other a hot and passionate kiss on the mouth.
The midday wind brought the scent of the sea and much-needed moisture to cool the overheated Chakonians on the beach at that hour. Sitting on a small rock, Relia enjoyed the cool breeze that ruffled her fur. Being a polar bear morph, she wasn't very used to the heat, though her body tolerated it anyway.
However, Relia looked at the horizon sadly. Tears hadn't stopped running down her cheeks since the incident with Cala. The positive energy that brought Chakona with her seemed to have vanished. The only thing she wanted at that moment was to disappear from everyone's sight.
As she sobbed alone in that place, an unknown person stood next to her.
"Hello... Are you feeling alright?"
“Eh?”
“I saw what happened in the game. So sorry"
"Eh... Thank you..." The bear replied, surprised. "Tell me, who are you?"
"Oh. My name is Holly Skunktaur, daughter of Rena Skunktaur and friend of Esteban."
“Hi Holly. I am Relia” Replied the morph wiping her face.
"Can i sit?" Holly asked, to which Relia nodded.
“That blow must have hurt”
"No matter. My nose no longer bleeds. What really hurt, was what she said to me."
"And what was it?"
“She said that I was a Terran pet bitch, a Renzar imitation and that I had no place among them… And all I wanted was to make friends and enjoy this planet. I thought the people who live here were nicer than on Terra. But it seems that it is not like that” Relia said between sobs.
"Oh, sorry to hear that. We Chakonians are kind! Don't let this bad experience make you think badly of us,” Holly replied tenderly.
“It seems my life has been a story of rejection. I have always strived to please others and fit in. But I always end up screwing up.”
“That renzar shouldn't have attacked you like that! I'll talk to Esteban and Natany and I'll tell them what happened."
"Not Holly. Do not do it. There's no need. It doesn't matter anymore." Relia declared still with tears in her eyes.
"But Relia... I know that Cala and Ulk are not engaged."
"It does not matter. I see you're very young, Holly. In this game, you win or you lose."
“Relia…”
“Maybe I should have stayed in my secretary position on Terra. I wasn't very happy, but at least I had already made people respect me" Said the polar bear. Holly suddenly sensed a strong darkness in Relia's mind, which intimidated hym. Because of hys youth, hy didn't have Rena's experience in dealing with this level of negativity. But hy didn't want to leave the Terran alone either.
“Relia, why don't you come to my house? Mom could make you feel better. Hy is good at it.”
"Thank you. But I don't want to see anyone. I want to be alone. I need it. Maybe another day… Goodbye little Holly” Said the polar bear, with a forced smile. After that, she stood up, and walked away towards the dressing room where she had left her clothes. Bright as Chakastra shone, Holly sensed that her light did not illuminate Relia sufficiently as she walked hesitantly away.
Hours later, Jhonny, Vera, Esteban and Lilethe, along with Lorna and Doren, were having lunch together at Lorel's Bar.
"I'm so excited. My parents will finally meet Jhonny in person” Vera said as she enjoyed dessert after lunch.
"And I'm a little nervous ha ha ha" He replied.
“I confess that I have never had that experience. But I guess it must be something stressful” Esteban commented.
“You will do well Johnny. Vera's parents will love you. Don't listen to Esteban” added Lilethe.
"You're a good boy, Jhonny, and a great catch for someone of any kind." Lorna mentioned wagging her tail.
"The important thing is that you two love each other very much, don't you?" Doren said with a smile.
"Of course!" declared the human male and then gave Vera a tender kiss on the lips.
After lunch, the six of them headed downtown together, taking advantage of the weekend and the day off Lorel had given Doren. They bought some gifts for Vera's family and Jhonny's mother. In the afternoon, they went directly to the airport, to see them both off.
"Okay. I had fun at the volleyball game you two organized. Esteban and Lorna. Thanks dear friends!" Jhonny said hugging them both.
“I also had a lot of fun. Although we have lost heh heh” Vera added with a smile.
"Oh, by all the gods, I'm going to miss you so much, my friends," Lorna said suddenly, her voice thick with emotion.
“That's right guys… Johnny, brother. Take care of yourself” Esteban exclaimed, hugging his human friend.
"You too, brother. I don't want to find out that you're in a hospital again” Jhonny said jokingly.
"Take care of yourself, Vera" Lorna said hugging her tenderly. "I love you both very much"
“I love you too Lorna. And I will miss you all!" the feline morph replied with tears in her eyes. After a warm group hug, Jhonny and Vera entered the passenger portico to board the plane that would take them to Bonifacio. They stopped at the entrance and turned to say goodbye for the last time, waving their hands. Afterwards, they disappeared in full view of the others. Lorna, Esteban and the skunktaurs returned to the center of the city. The day was almost over and everyone was very tired after the hectic day of sports that morning.
Chakastra had already slipped below the horizon line, and Relia was still walking aimlessly across Topazio Bay. She was submerged in an internal storm that suddenly clouded her senses. Without realizing it, she found herself in front of the hotel entrance that faced the beach. Observing that there were people on a terrace, she was encouraged to enter. In that place, the passengers had dinner or had a drink, happily sharing the time. Since she did not know the city, and the hostel where she was staying was far away, she decided to spend that night in the same hotel.
After checking in, she went up the elevator to her room. When she arrived, she asked one of the chakats of the service, for the viewpoint of the building. After taking a refreshing shower and putting on an evening dress, from her bag, the female wanted to observe the night lights of Amistad. After leaving things in order in her room, she accessed the viewpoint located on the roof of the building. The sight of her seemed wonderful to her, and those thousands of bright points, distributed all over, caused her a strange sensation.
However, the suffering of the past echoed in her present. She reflected on her life, her struggles and the humiliations she had to suffer as a child for being different, and being alone. She thought and thought about that eternal night, where the lights of the city were confused with the stars in the sky. And for Relia, it wasn't easy to tell the difference. She never was.
The damage that a lack of love can do to living beings is often immeasurable. Especially if that absence has been constant over time. And Relia felt it since she was a child, abandoned to her fate like an abomination, obtaining a life of abuse and ingratitude.
The female polar bear approached the edge of the viewpoint, where a small metal fence separated the visitors from the void. After taking a deep breath, she said to herself. “There will be no more pain Relia. Everything will end here, and you will be able to rest, like dad and mom."
She looked everywhere and saw no one in that place, at that time of night. Eyes clouded with tears and anguish pounding in her heart, she Relia climbed to the other side of the fence and held on with only one arm. She gazed into the darkness of the void like one who sees fate head-on. And, after closing her eyes, and while her entire life was reflected in a second, she let go of the railing that held her body... and she let herself fall...
