This was my very first attempt at drawing something digitally. The problem is that I don't know how to draw. Can't draw a straight line to save my life, but what I CAN do is shade. Kinda. So I made a generic head shape and slowly built up my shape from there. No reference was used, but several screens were sworn at.

This is how people who are good draw,they don't use lines to represent anything, they use colors and shapes to build what they are trying to draw. Some guy at my college did it for our class, its was ballin. This is a good direction to take your art, your actually lucky to be doing this first, most people have to try and overcome the temptation of drawing lines over shapes. This is really not that bad.
