Katt VIsits Dogg: Chapter 7
Meanwhile, at his home, Oscar was thinking of what to do so he and Molly had lots of fun.
“What kind of pastime can katts and doggs enjoy equally? Hmm... how about pillow wars? No, Molly dislikes getting her hair ruffled. Wait, now that I remember, I have videogames too! Dig Dogg, Pup-Man, Zoomy the Hound Dogg, Super Splash Pups… I just hope she likes dogg videogames. Oh, and by the way, I have to work on earning my guitar Dogg Scout merit badge!”
“Oscar!” he heard his mom call. “Time for your doggy shower! You must get squeaky clean if you want to see Molly today!”
“Squeaky clean?” Oscar thought. “What does she think I am? A rubber ducky? Or a clockwork mouse? I’d hate to be a clockwork mouse. Molly would chase me around and catch me! Anyway, it’s bath time!”
Oscar headed outside for his mom to bath him. He kind of, sort of, disliked bath time, but if it was for Molly, he was gladly going to let himself get bathed! When he finished his bath, he looked like a new dog!
“Oh, I think I know what you can wear!” Oscar’s mom said.
She went inside the house to get Oscar his clothes. When she came out, she surprised him. She had the clothes Oscar had worn at the Katt vs Dogg game show! Once she had dressed Oscar, she said:
“You look so fancy! You’ll surely win Molly’s heart with this!”
Oscar’s tail wagged slightly and smiled. More than anything, he wanted Molly to be happy. It sure looked like Molly was going to have a great time with him!
“Now, go to your bedroom and prepare everything for when Molly arrives.” Oscar’s mom said. “We’ll greet her as politely as we can be. Right, Duke?”
“Errr… Sure thing, Lola! Don’t worry, Oscar. We’ll give your katt friend Molly a cozy welcome! … Or we’ll try, at least.”
“Dad!” Oscar said.
“Uh… Sorry, son. You know I still don’t get used to it.”
“It’s okay. Thank you, dad! Thank you, mom!”
Oscar headed to his room, while his parents prepared to greet Molly. Shortly after, their doorbell rang.
“It must be her!” Oscar’s mom said. “Duke, remember your good manners.”
“Ugh. Fine, Lola.”
Oscar’s dad opened the door.
“Molly! You’re here!”
“Hi, Mr. Montahugh!” Molly said, sparkling her eyes and fluttering her eyelashes.
If she wanted to earn the trust of the Montahughs, she had to make good use of her future actress facial expressions more than ever.
“Oh, um… Welcome, Molly!” Oscar’s dad said. “I hope you like it in here…”
“Oscar is waiting for you in his room, sweetie.” Oscar’s mom said.
“Don’t you dare touch my magazines, katt!” Fifi said.
“Fifi!” Oscar’s mom scolded her. “Sorry about our daughter’s behavior. She’s not used to this kind of visits yet.”
“Ah, never mind, Mrs. Montahugh.” Molly said. “I’m used to this. So, where is Oscar?”
“He’s waiting for you at his bedroom.” Oscar’s dad said. “Please be careful with him.”
“Ah, don’t worry, Mr. Montahugh. I would never be capable of hurting Oscar! Look at my tiny little claws! There’s no way I was the one who scratched him while we were lost at the Western Frontier Park!”
“Oh, right. The weaselboar.” Oscar’s dad said. “Anyway, go and have fun with Oscar.”
“Oh, thank you, sir!” Molly said.
As she walked toward Oscar’s bedroom, she heard some guitar strums. When she entered, she found Oscar playing a guitar!
“Oh! Uh… Hi, Molly!” Oscar said.
“Hi, Oscar!” Molly said. “I didn’t know you played guitar!”
“Oh, I do! Kind of, sort of…”
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“You never asked! Besides, I’m trying to earn my guitar playing Dogg Scout merit badge.”
“Oh, really?”
“Yes! As a matter of fact, I wrote you a song.”
Molly gasped as her eyes lit up.
“A song? For me? I can’t wait to hear it!”
“For real? Ok, then. Here I go.”
Oscar began playing his guitar and sang:
“Molly Katt, Molly Katt,
Molly, lovely Molly
Molly Katt, Molly Katt,
She’s my cutesie Katt friend…”
At the end of Oscar’s song, Molly was speechless! She clapped at him.
“Wow, Oscar! You sing pretty well!”
“Thank you, Molly! I think I got that Dogg Scout merit badge in my pocket!”
“You sure do!”
“Though, I gotta admit. You sing way better than me.”
Molly blushed upon hearing this.
“Why, thank you, Oscar!”
“Do you think we can make a good duet? You sing and I play the guitar!”
“That’d be neat!” Molly said. “Well, what should we do now?”
“Wanna play some videogames! I know you’re secretly a gamer, just like your brother.”
“Heh. I guess I am.”
“What do you want to play? I got lots of games, but they’re dogg games.”
“Don’t worry, Oscar. If you enjoyed Blaze’s katt games, I’m sure I’m going to enjoy your dogg games.”
“Gee, thank you, Molly! In that case, why don’t we play Super Splash Pups? It’s a really fun one. You gotta grab things like hoses or lawn sprinklers and push your opponents off the stage by soaking them!”
“Whoa, sounds fun… as long as it’s not in real life.”
“It is fun! Come on, let’s play!”
“Okay.”
Oscar and Molly sat at one side of his bed, turned on the game console, picked their characters and began playing Super Splash Pups. For a dogg game, she found it really entertaining! Soon, she was beating Oscar in lots of matches with relative ease!
“Wow, Molly. You’re pretty good at this! Way better than me!”
“Thank you, Oscar!”
“But I won’t give up!” Oscar said. “Come on, another match!”
Oscar and Molly played a few more matches, and fortunately, Oscar managed to win some!
“Whew!” Oscar said. “Looks like we’re equally good at this game, Molly!”
“We are, Oscar!”
Both did a high five.
“Do you wanna play something else?” Oscar asked her.
“No, I think that’s enough.” Molly said. “I may be really good at videogames, but I don’t play 24/7 like my brother.”
“Heh. I guess you’re right about that.”
“For now, let’s just rest.”
“Oh, yeah! Great idea!”
Both laid down on the bed.
“Your bed is really soft, Oscar!” Molly said.
“It is!” Oscar said. “Mom and dad bought it from Bed Bark and Beyond. Such a fine store!”
“My family always buys my bed clothing from Meowcy’s and Purrget. It’s so comfy! Makes me sleep like a kitten.”
“I thought she WAS a kitten.” Oscar thought. “Oh, wait. We’re now preteens.”
Then, Molly did something Oscar didn’t expect. She took her shoes off, presenting him her feet.
“Whew, my feet have been feeling quite sore lately. Mind rubbing them Oscar?”
“Oh! Uhh... sure!”
Oscar grabbed Molly’s feet and rubbed them gently.
“Just for the record, I’ve never done this before, especially for a katt.” Oscar said. “But, I hope you like it.”
“I know I will, Oscar.” Molly said.
Oscar kept rubbing Molly’s feet. Surprisingly, he appeared to do it pretty well! Molly’s toes wiggled in relaxation. She let out a soft purr.
“You like it, Molly?”
“I do! Please keep going!”
This motivated Oscar a lot. He rubbed Molly’s feet harder. She was so delighted that she nearly fainted! Much to Oscar’s surprise, Molly’s feet felt really soft, like the blanket his mom gave him for Christmas.
“Wh-what lotion do you use for your feet, Molly?”
“Oh… its’s a coconut cream one!” Molly said, blushing. “Mum got it for me. Makes my feet really soft.”
“And not smelly!” Oscar thought. “I always thought katt feet smelt like cheese. But that’s only their butts, I guess.”
Then, he sniffed something else.
“Hey, I think Mum has supper ready! Let’s go pig out!”
“Pig out?” Molly asked.
“Oh, that’s right. You’re a katt, and I’m a dogg, but our family loves to eat like pigs!”
“I can see that.” Molly said.
Oscar giggled.
“Anyway, let’s go!”
Holding hands, Oscar and Molly headed to the dining room.
“What kind of pastime can katts and doggs enjoy equally? Hmm... how about pillow wars? No, Molly dislikes getting her hair ruffled. Wait, now that I remember, I have videogames too!
