DEF CON 31 - Old Voting Machine
The Voting Machine Village had many old and decommissioned voting machines on display, and demonstrated how they could be vulnerable to attack or exploitation.
I had the privilege of meeting a fellow furry who was also on a state committee of elections, serving as an auditor. He showed me this old voting machine from the 1996 Presidential Election which pit President Bill Clinton against challenger Bob Dole.
Here's a dirty secret - one of the best and most nefarious ways to hack this machine doesn't involve electronics.
He literally flip-flopped the paper strips identifying the candidates, which would trick a voter into thinking he was voting for his choice, wherein his votes would actually go to the rival runner.
