I need to upload something, so have this WIP, I guess. |D I spent quite a few hours detailing this, and it's gonna take quite a few hours more to finish what I had first planned. (This is a cropped pic.) Dunno if I'll ever get that far though. :B

abstract landscaping, this is the kind of stuff I like. I enjoy the illu-sculpture* of the plants and paths on it.

It almost seems like a sculpture. Did you start with a white canvas then add the black and whittle away at it with white, or did you start with a black canvas and whittle away at it with white? It seems like an odd question, but some of the greatest sculptors said that they carved nothing, they simply freed what was already within the marble. It appears the same here, you have freed something that was held out of sight. I simply cannot wait for a finished product.
Well, my method was experimental, as this and "A mole's world" were the first drawings I made like this. I started by scribbling out shapes in black, nearly at random, creating a silhouette I found pleasing. From there I added some white over it, using the same method to create a basic idea of the paths and larger white objects. Then I simply brought out what I saw in the shapes, using different kinds of strokes, laying black over white strokes and vice versa, to get different textures. It required practically no planning or real thought; it "drew itself", so I guess it's fundamentally the same as what you described. :)
As for a finished product, I'm terrible at getting to the end of a project; I just get distracted by other things too much. ^^;
...I'll try finishing it up, but it's better not to expect it to go further than this. Anywho, thank you for liking it, and for your thoughtful comment! :D
