I've always been facinated with the world outside of European and Anglophonic countries; and ever since visiting Hong Kong, Beijing, Tokyo and Singapore, I've always felt a draw to the exotic otherworldly culture and architecture of East Asia.
Whilst South Korea was perhaps not the highest on my list of countries to visit next in the far east because of it's very modern aesthetic verses the likes of Cambodia and Vietnam who appear more organic and wild (and cheaper) in comparison; an oppotunity arose after many years of teasing and badgering my koreaboo colleague for as many years as I've known him to actually finally step out of the UK and go and see the country he cherishes and worships so much. And finally, after seven months of waiting for his first ever passport to be received, we've booked out flights and hotel and are bound for the capital of the southern half of the Korean peninsula ...in another nine months. But it's finally happening!
