Buck Brothers Flags of August (8/1/23)
Today on the Vexillological Corner...
The first of August is Swiss Day for 🇨🇭 Switzerland, home of the famous Matterhorn mountain! With a 1:1 flag ratio, the white cross or plus represents the Christian Cross, including the old Swiss Confederacy. Today, I have raised my homemade Swiss flag for the first time. The hard part was taking them off the snap hooks, and I really did not want to soil them. I showed this to @flagsin50, and he liked my effort at least. Maybe sometime I can get an actual flag of Switzerland.
The first of August is also an occasion of independence for the country 🇧🇯 Benin. This flag is a lot similar to 🇲🇬 Madagascar but flipped, but the colors of the flag are Pan-African colors, being the green representing the a new democracy, the red represents the courage of the ancestors, and the yellow is for the treasures the country has.
