Chip's journey to Beast Battle started with his summer job as a lifeguard after graduation. He initially gained fame via a viral video of him getting punched out by a rowdy drunk that refused to leave the closed beach. A moment later Chip tackles him and when the dust settled the boozehound and his two friends were ass up eating sand. The "Boxing Lifeguard" gimmick carried for a while until he got the position as PR coverpup for the fire department, in short tv spots and appearing at school functions teaching kids how to "Punch out fire hazards!" He was even featured as a superhero in a short lived comic series and computer game battling hokey firestarters Andy Arson, Hotbox and Pyro-Bot among other characters. His "acting career" started to get stagnant playing almost identical scenarios all around the country. When he felt like he might scream if he had to ask another assembly of restless cubs if they should play with matches and cotton balls, he got invited to participate in Mascot Mayhem; a series of charity fight nights hosted by Beast Battle.
Chip got off to a good start dominating the local uni's celebrated cheerleader Tommy Timber(wolf) and toothpaste titan Captain Calcium, but it went downhill from there suffering a shocking squash courtesy of the energy conserving Power Pal, didn't land a single hit on environment patron Eco-Eddy and a one shot from energy drink spokesbro Ragin' Ricky knocked him out cold and out of the tournament. Despite the L trifecta, Chip had gained a considerable backing from the fans even with the short amount of time he was in the running. Some brief negotiations with management and Chip's fading star was showing some new polish.
