Carla stood in the house of her boyfriend, confused at its empty interior. She was out on a run when her boyfriend had texted her, asking her to come over. But when she knocked on the door, there was nobody to answer. Nobody in the living room. Nobody in the kitchen. The place was empty, as far as she could see. So why had Markus called her here?
As she stood in the living room pondering that question, a strange black and yellow object materialized on her head. She glanced up at it, confused by its sudden appearance. Before she could take off the odd object to get a better look at it, she felt a strange sensation spread about her body. She stared down at her body, gazing upon her skin which was actively lightening each second. She watched in disbelief as she began to shrink, the room seeming to grow larger around her as she changed. She could feel her hair beginning to merge, the strands becoming a mass of tentacles that actively styled themselves on her head. She could also feel her face changing, growing rounder and wider as her eyes turned a yellow tint and her ears grew pointed.
At this point, Carla barely looked like herself, or even human for that matter. She felt strange, as if her entire anatomy had shifted to another species that was only vaguely human. Her skin had lightened a considerable amount, almost looking pale. Her jogging clothes began to rearrange, the sports bra turning into a black tube dress as her sweatpants shifted into tights. Her shoes melted into black boots, a silver bandolier falling across her shoulder as a pair of silver earrings fastened themselves to her ears.
As the transformations came to a close, Carla stared at her body with wonder in her eyes. She was confused, yes, but there was a sense of awe washing over her as she examined the ways her body had changed. As she stood in curious silence, she heard the sounds of somebody sobbing in another room, muttering things in a language that was both foreign and familiar to her. She wandered over to a nearby room, which she recognized as Markus's bedroom, hearing the crying only get louder. Filled with curiosity she grabbed the handle, pushing open the door to see who lay just beyond it...
