One of the fox tails I made for practice. This one is a 4-piece pattern in a leaf shape. I had been looking around for tail tutorials online and for the most part they just say to "cut out the desired shape and sew it together". I wanted to see for myself what different patterns would look like.
It's too bad the fur I bought is only good for small projects (I have a lot of it!). This tail is pretty big (30+ inches) and at this size the striped texture it has becomes more noticeable. On the bright side, 1) it's really soft and 2) if I'm right, it's going to look really good as a "silver" fox, since it'll turn black when I shave down the face fur on the head.

Wow, that looks like it turned out really nice! Looks....so much easier than what I'm going to try with a "yarn-tail", but the plus side to that is then I'll know how to crochet =b
It's a nice, unique shape too, but I got a question, is this machine sewn, or done by hand? Or both?

Hand sewn. I tried putting it through my sewing machine but I've got a real cheap one... it basically won't fit in and it only sews one side. Ffffuuu!
I tried a yarn tail but there must be something I'm doing wrong. Mine looked like it had mange. I totally gave up >.> I wish I could get the hang of them, they can look really nice and you can get almost any color you want :C

Ohh tell me about it, I've got a recent Singer machine, I'd hate to see what faux fur would do it ('stead, got a cute little Babylock, thing is a DREAM)
But from what I've read up on, general idea seems to be to stay clear of the cheap stuff...using this stuff called 'Sensations' Rainbow Classics, it doesn't seem ratty, but I hadn't made the tail at that point, but hey, good luck if you try it again.
