The rising sun shined over everyone who were just starting to wake up for the new day. And inside a small basement apartment, a woman with long white hair styled into long pigtails was getting her brown boots tied. Once she was ready, she put on her strawberry patterned bakery uniform, the small crown that went with it, and made her way out. As she locked her front door, the woman made her way up the small concrete steps up to the surface. As the morning sun was shining down, the young woman named Maya was ready to start her day.


Maya: Alright. Today's a new day. Time to get everything set in the shop before the morning walkers come.


Fortunately for Maya, her workplace was just across the street from her home, making it more convenient for getting to work quickly, as well as getting called if she was needed back.


Maya: Better get those soft serving machines running first. I just hope none of them are on the fritz today.


Making it to the back door, Maya quickly opened it, tucking the keys back into her pocket. Turning off the security system, she quickly turned on the ice cream machines, all the while turning on all the lights. After a few minutes, the machines were functioning normally. Maya couldn't help but sigh in relief.


Maya: Today's my lucky day.


With the worries about the machines gone, Maya proceeded to bake all the pastries for the front counter, along with checking the tubs of ice cream at the side. After some time had passed, the pastries were all baked and placed at the front, as the freezers were running normally. With everything done in her checklist, Maya checked the clock.


Maya: Almost 8 in the morning. Time to open.


Approaching the front door of the Bakery/Ice cream shop, the 'closed' sign at the front was turned over to 'open'. The shop was now open for business.

No less than 5 minutes after opening the store, Maya had gotten her first customers of the day. Given by the school uniforms being worn, they were just students getting something sweet before having to head to school for the day.


Maya: It's been so long since I last time went to school.


????: Yoohoo! Maya!


Hearing the voice from the side windowsill, Maya quickly made her way to the opening. There, Maya was greeted by one of the teachers who was a regular customer. And right on time as part of her daily routine, Mrs. Bull was ready to order.


Maya: Billy Jean! So great to see you today.


Mrs. Bull: Same goes for you too, Hun. Business still as busy as usual?


Maya: Well, it's a school day. So I get the usual students who come by.


Mrs. Bull: As long as its business coming in, the more the merrier.


Maya: That's true. So, what would like to get today? The usual?


Mrs. Bull: You know me too well, Maya.


Maya: Alright then. One Strawberry swirl and Neapolitan combo coming right up!


Grabbing a cone, Maya made the strawberry swirl Ice cream. Going over to hand it to Mrs. Bull, she proceeded to pick up a cup, serve one scoop of vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry ice cream, and created the Neapolitan combo.


Maya: And here you go, Billy Jean. The Neapolitan combo.


Mrs. Bull: You always serve the best ice cream around here.


Taking a few bills from out of her purse, Mrs. Bull gave it to Maya, paying for her order.


Mrs. Bull: Keep the change, Hun. You earned it.


Maya: Oh thanks, Billy Jean. That means a lot to me.


Mrs. Bull: I just feel that today's gonna be a spectacular day for you.


Maya: It's starting to look like it.


Taking the money, Maya gave Mrs. Bull the ice cream, as she went on her way.


Mrs. Bull: Have yourself a good day, Maya.


Maya: See you tomorrow, Billy Jean.


Returning to the cash register, Maya completed her sale. She really felt today was going to be a great day.


Maya: Okay who's next?
