Whoops! Well, that'll happen.

When I started posting pictures, early in the pandemic that's not yet ended, I did a post-a-day mostly to force myself to keep practicing. I'm very well-motivated by routines, especially daily ones, and a lot of the improvement I've had has been driven by my trying to do something and also getting bored of always doing the same thing.

There have been times, for example holidays, when I knew I wouldn't have time to do a picture; even as sloppily as I work I need a good half-hour to hour for each of these. I was able to build up buffers. I've got a busy week ahead, though, and had a busy week getting ready for it, and I could either build up a lousy buffer or ---

Among my favorite phrases is how the Sabbath is made for Man, not Man for the Sabbath. The Schedule is a tool to help you do the things you value. When it gets in the way of that, you have to ditch the Schedule. So, I am taking a vacation from daily posting. I don't expect it to be too long. But I don't want to commit to exactly when I'll get back, or even whether I'll resume as a daily poster. We'll see what makes sense, when I get back. Meanwhile, you know exactly where to find me!

Gidney and Cloyd are from several Rocky and His Friends/Rocky and Bullwinkle serials. Among the Moon Men's tools are the Scrootch Ray gun which leaves a person immobile for whatever time they've set. One Pottsylvanian border guard ended up scrootched for a solid fifty years. And that worked out great for him! We should all be so lucky.

(Oh yeah, then there was the time they accidentally scrootched one-third of the entire United States television-watching population, which, uh, oops.)
