I don't know why you haven't seen it. Anyone who's anyone (and me too!) was in on it!
It was a project initiated by uniform vixen, who I believe uses an icon you painted for her presently. Maybe you two were simply not aware of one another yet when she decided whom she was going to pass this around to.

Jah that is probably the case, we've really only passed post-it notes with various Canadiana to each other in the Have on Taps for the last few years and it wasn't until I painted that picture of UV that we started gabbin'. Which we do very little of!
Still like the quilt though, super cute.

You've really been around for years? My awareness of you is, I think, only a recent thing and from my perspective you simply exploded onto the furry scene (or parts thereof which I am familiar) wholly formed as one of the greatest artists in the fandom, and one of the most likely to turn this furry thing into something that will be considered a legitimate artistic movement when considered by persons in the future.
You'll bring a tear to my teary old eyes there Karass. I'm going to have to go ahead and imagine you're being sarcastic so that I don't uproot myself to bask in your compliments all of the time. I'd live in your kitchen, I wouldn't take up much space!! ...
I've been around the fandom for years but never really tried to make much out of it. I think it was back in 1997-98 that I first became aware of it as a genre of some kind. I'm 24 now so I guess I was thirteen. It really has made an impact on me when I think about it. And I really believe that there are important, interesting psychological stuff in all of this. Also sex, which is just the gravy flavored machine grease in the beast.

My complements, I'm afraid, are sincere. If I must be someone's fanboy I wish to be a grand fanboy, and you are a person in whom I truly believe transcendent artistic qualities reside. By 2010 I hope for there to be a legitimate snooty fine art furry establishment, with a manifesto and a geographical focal point, some kind of compound for the leaders of the movement, somewhere for us to keep all of our stuff and our writings to make it easier for our biographers or historians of the furry artistic movement to chronicle just what it was we were doing. Art school students will learn about the Baroque period, to be followed by the Rococo period, and then, Cubism, Impressionism, Expressionism, Dada, Surrealism, Modern art, Pop Art, Whatever it is now that they'll call what rouges like Banksy do, and then finally they'll learn about Furry art, as one of the major movements in the fine art world.
This is an excellent fantacy of mine, and I think that the chances of it making a cool premise for a furry comic are better than it actually coming to pass :)

Well I've always thought that there are some easily understandable.. lets not call it 'reasons' lets call em 'commonalities'.. that people find a home in this sort of thing. It is almost impossible to look into the fandom from outside and separate it from the internet but there is intense precedence for doing just that, when you take an anthropological bend to it. Not to force justify putting a grin on a dog, but it is important that we apply those proportions to the animal and use it as a reflecting board. I don't like the word 'fursona' but it is an intimate term that says it just as well as anything I suppose.
Post Modernism is the current trend, though it is one of those trend-dynamic parallax things that fought to encompass itself so hard now there is nothing left but a hard little asshole button on the floor of some gallery. Anything goes, and if you find a home in the fandom then you've found your art. Dah.

You should be at the meeting when we write the manifesto. I say "we" but I might just be serving refreshments :)

Oh totally, the meeting would have to consist of hand picked persons. There would have to be some sort of secret congress of uber-furies who will decide who gets to be at the meeting to write the fine art furry manifesto (this meeting should also focus on coming up with a name for the movement, as I don't think fine art furry really has a special ring to it). It must be catered, booze must be available, private rooms for each attendee, and communal rooms for their entourages. A large circular table, a giant glowing map of the USA and USSR, a stenographer taking down the minutes of the meeting, a priest of an absurd faith to bless the opening proceedings each day, a pageant reenactment of the naming of Dadaism, involving brutally stabbing a dictionary. Oh it would be a totally classy affair.
Yes and also automatic drawing by some guy who has a really nice silk shirt on but no pants, and this interpretive dance by a lovely young brunette about the first upload of the final public version of furcadia to the internet, and the subsequent ocean of twelve year olds to populate it (as described by a blanket of stuffed animals being thrown over said dance artist)
And also the manifesto has to take like fifteen meetings to come to print version because no one could agree what color to make the cover of it, eventually settling on rainbow with gray.

Ah, you understand perfectly.
I should form a foundation to begin petitioning the American NEA for funds for this event at once. Does Canada have any federal level funding for the arts, perhaps this great meeting will need several international cells to cooperate to make this happen.

Its funny actually, if you're an artist in Canada and you're not hanging off the gov't's saggy tits you're considered a lowbrow wanna be. Which I wanna be! International cells are the answer to everything, I swear. Alright. Lets organize an eastern/western branch in each country and we'll meet in the respective middle, with each compass equivalent reporting to a national body that in turn negotiates policy and tenure between the (four?) cells. There could be a site ground where all bodies could come together to vote on reps. or policy and other things like meeting places, or what kind of shellfish should be banned from the catering.
