These days the former Karstadt now Galeria, and even before Karstadt Hertie, department store in Frankfurt on the Zeil is closing. Since the last two big german department store chains, Galeria Kaufhof and Karstadt, furse 1-2 years ago to form Galeria, ist was pretty obvious that one of two department stores on Frankfurts main shopping street Zeil has to go. And since the former Galeria Kaufhof atthe Hauptwache was the larger and more representative one, it was clear that it was the smaller, a little run down former Karstadt that will shut its doors. It is a shame to see one of the last big department stores in the city go, but at least I got some good deals from the end of business sale...
