my main char Conrad Van Orton
dunno if someone here read this book, it's a story about one deutch man belonging to lost generation, caught between war and peace. the book contains a lot of reflections on what is happening inside Germany before the Second World War, about art and philosophy. this person doesn't feel himself anywhere at his place, he is a steppenwolf, wandering and grinning at everything he can see around himself. at the end, steppenwolf finds salvaition from himself and suicide by mystical events. would he be able to do it in a real world, without magic? i dunno
Conrad is just very simillar to this character, he has lost his name, his family and himself, e was expelled from his motherland. now he is wandering through the promised land, trying to find anything, that could help him. will he find the salvation?
