Description copied and pasted from my Deviantart Page:
Hee-Ho, howdy everyone! Today I bring to you the many differences between Fruit Kobolds and Scalebolds. This being a pretty basic chart, and I think I've made it pretty clear in the setting that these two species, despite sharing similar names, are vastly different. Not only in looks, but also in background and physiology which will now be detailed out here:
Scalebolds are small and very durable lizardfolk who are powered by religious faith and fervor. Usually creating mighty structures that last for generations on end. Scalebolds are one of the first sentient species in the Materia realm as Fruit Kobold's didn't come around until thousands of years later. Scalebolds went from worshipping frogs, to dragons, and then to "the stars" during their generation. Always wishing for assistance from "the gods" or whatever they're worshipping to help win battles and for them to hopefully receive divine strength from their patrons. A Scalebold that follows no religious practice are usually outed as heretics and they will ensure that their gods are being worshipped "properly." For thousands of years the Scalebolds have waged war with one another over which Dragon is the right one to worship, and any other alien race that dares to interfere with their affairs. The scalebolds are what can be defined as a "high fantasy' age where gigantic castles that touch the clouds dominate most of their structures, and gunpowder is just being invented over the horizon.
Fruit Kobolds however are creatures who are meant to replicate the very look of the Scalebold by Ultrinian standards. Making a biologically superior model that is able to rapidly evolve niches and were created for the pure purpose of combat. They're taller, more physically fit, and with their increased strength a single Fruit Kobold can usually annihilate an entire battalion of Scalebolds. However, the Fruit Kobold's main drawback is that they're very resource intensive. A Fruit Kobold will eat almost it's entire body-weight's worth of food to keep up their physical forms per day. They also do not have any knowledge of any previous empires and were stuck in a deeply "primitive" state as most of their structures involved underground cave systems and roaming barbaric packs after Yggdrasil abandoned the project and let them roam free without any support. Fruit Kobolds also unlike Scalebolds evolved various niches and rapidly based on whatever biome they lived in. Such as the Aquatic Fruit Kobold (the one illustrated here) is able to breathe underwater and has a pure resistance to most cold temperatures. While Copper Fruit Kobolds are horned, have a resistance to fire and heat, and are much more violently aggressive than the other parts of its sub-species.
Now, despite all of that there is some similarities between the two races. Such as them being excellent in terms of durability, their massively communal relationships, and even down to some simple mannerisms. If you want more information on either of these two species and where they went from here? You can easily read up to some of the things I will link in this post. Both of these species though in the canon of the story do fall under the "Warrior of the Pillars" eventually after the events of the "War against the Stars" as they finally fall under one banner. Onto the creative process of this image-- This thing has been setting around as a sketch for over a month in my files. I just haven't really had time to get the line-art done or how I fully wanted to approach it, but I am glad I waited around. Originally also these two characters depicted used to be female, but I changed it to "featureless males" or "no true specific gender" to try and get the point across further. If you got this far? Thank you for reading lads, have a good one!

Disclaimer and Copyright: These characters involved, and the artwork belongs to me, TwistedHensley. The Skin to Scales universe also belongs to me there, TwistedHensley... You get the drill. I want to point out that this is an Epic Dark Fantasy setting with a lot of mythological and religious tones and that there is no real-life connection to any of these events, religions, characters and it is fully, grounded, in fantasy. There is no copyright infringement also intended to other forms of media as Skin to Scales is meant to be its own thing and something I've been working on for a very long time. This is the same setting where faith is a massive part of the magic system.
