Her mother was captured during one of Runk's army raids on neighboring worlds, and the snake was born already in the demon world itself. By quota she ended up with the Bloods, or, more precisely, with Urnus. She was not much of a proclivity, except for a weak mental gift compared to demons. But even that was enough to restrain and control the creatures. Raised by demons, she fully acknowledged their power, essentially indistinguishable from their creatures in devotion. But since her mind wasn't artificially organic, she knows more about the world than the average demonic "pet". And she is well aware of her position, her duties and her role. Since she has no ability to create new species, and her control abilities are close to those of the Coordinators, Urnus decided to use her outside of Rank. She's also not tainted by demonic inclusions, so the result is that officially she's considered Wendell's first mate, but in fact she looks after the creatures in the Rank that are under Wendell's control. She's a citizen of the demonic world who's mostly seen by everyone around her, and many wouldn't mind hitting on her, but not until they saw her commanding creatures who could tear her apart with a single move. But such one-time relationships more than suit her, as they do not interfere with her main work. And those who begin to suspect anything about the true nature of the creatures' appearance, she will feed to the monsters without any remorse.
