Ch. 4: Drop Everything and Go Camping
The next morning, Firefox woke up to see a pair of eyes peering down at her from the top bunk. She grabed Fox's blaster, and held it out in front of her, one fiery red finger on the trigger. "I have a blaster, and I'm not affraid to use it!" She exclaimed.
The thing on the bunk chuckled. "Yeah, I have one too." It said, holding up a blue blaster.
Firefox loosened up, and laughed to herself before lowering Fox's blaster. "Sorry Falco, I did'nt know you were here." She said.
"I live here." Said Falco, an atractive, skinny blue falcon she same age as Firefox, as he jumped out of the bunk bed.
"Since when? If you were here last night, how come I did'nt see you when I was over here?" Firefox set the blaster back in it's holester which was attached to Fox's belt.
"I crashed early. But, uh, why are you here?" Falco asked with his what everyone called 'epic' New York accented voice.
"Well, we baked a chocolate cake for you guys, and then Fox ate it all. I got a text at twelve o clock last night from him, and I'm really sorry you did'nt get any of the cake. I can bake another….." Firefox was enterupted by Falco.
"It's okay, I'm allergic to chocolate." He said.
"Whaaaat??" Firefox asked.
"Actually, I'm allergic to cocoa beans, a key ingrident in chocolate!" Falco explained.
"Oh. That sucks!" Firefox said.
"Yeah. Oh, hey, I been meanin' to talk to you about Fox's eatin' habits. I aint never letin' him shop for food ever again. All he gets is, like, calories in a shopin' bag! It's never any fruit. I can't make smoothies without fruit! I'm not sure I can live here anymore!" Falco exclaimed.
"Move back to your house then." Firefox told him.
"I can't. My house….." Falco began.
"What? What happened to it?" Firefox thought for a moment. "Is it infested with bees? Because I can fix that for you….." She added.
"No, no. My wonderful house in that beutiful oak tree…..it was struck by lightnin' and…..fell over." Falco sighed.
"Falco, I'm so sorry." Firefox said.
"Thanks. Now, I'm searchin' for a new home." Falco told her.
"Well, there's a hollowed out elm tree near my place. You're wealcome to live there, if you want." Firefox offered.
"Oh yeah, that'd be nice. I'll look into it." Falco smiled.
Firefox flashd her trademark crooked smile back. "We should go into the kitchen so we can talk more without waking Denali." Firefox said.
"Or Fox." Falco added as he followed Firefox into the kitchen.
"Yeah…..sure." Firefox said, still ticked off at Fox.
Falco shook his head and smiled to himself. "I know you don't mean that." He said as Firefox sat down on a stool, the very same stool Fox had been siting last night. "Yeah, I do." She aurgued.
Falco was silent as he poured two bowls of Special K cereal with real, fresh strawberries in it.
"This is good cereal. But yikes, in afarid to see what Fox's cereal is….." Firefox said.
"What cereal? Fox eats ten donuts and three cups of chocolate milk for breakfast." Falco said causualy.
"Gosh." Firefox shivered slightly, and took another bite of her cereal.
"Mornin', guys."
Denali had joined them, looking very sleepy.
"Mornin!" Falco and Firefox repeated.
"Fox up yet?" Firefox asked.
"No, unless he snores when he's awake." Denali replied.
"Did his annoying snore wake ya up, too?" Falco asked.
"No. Actually, I woke up with Fox's tail over my face. I could'nt breathe under that bushy fluffball." Denali chuckled.
"He's lucky his tail is still attached to his r….."
Denali elbowed her sister hard, for Fox had apeared in the doorway.
Firefox looked down at her cereal, refusing to look at Fox.
Falco got up to get a banana and a bowl of cereal for Denali.
Denali walked over to Fox, and hugged him. "How's your tummy feel, Fox?" She asked.
"Better." Fox replied.
Firefox rolled her eyes, put her bowl in the sink, and pulled Falco to the door. "Let's go for a walk, Falco." She said.
"OK." Falco followed her out the door. They walked to a park down the street, the same one Firefox and Fox had taken Pikachu to a month ago. Falco let Firefox sit down on a cement bridge over the creek, first.
"Ya know what, Falco? We should go camping for the weekend. Or maybe even longer." Firefox pointed out.
"Ooo, yeah! That would be fun." Falco smiled to himself at the thought of camping.
"Yeah, and I can shop for the food." Firefox winked.
"Good! If Fox shoped for food, well, let's jus' say, it'd be like eatin' dessert for breakfast, lunch, and dinner." Falco laughed.
"Heh heh. Hey, do you still have that awesome blue truck you bought a few years ago?" Firefox asked.
Falco grinned. "Oh yeah." He replied.
"Sweet." Firefox smiled.
Suddenly, Falco jumped up. "Ooo, ooo, look! Exsersize equip'ment! C'mon, let's go!" He exclaimed.
Firefox got up and started walking towards the excersize trail. When she did'nt walk fast enough, Falco grabed her paw, and gently pulled her across the cement bridge. Firefox laughed and went along with it. They looked kinda like a couple, laughing and playing around. The two walked along the trail, completing all the excersizes on championship level.
After about an hour, they were back on the bridge, stretching their legs on the blocks.
"Shall we head home, and go campin' now?" Falco asked a little while later.
"We shall." Firefox replied.
Falco led the way back to the house. Once they reached their destination, Firefox turned down the other way, and headed to the store. "I'll be back soon. Pack up, and pick me up at the store." Firefox told Falco.
"OK. I'll tell the others." Falco said. Once inside, Falco got a bottle of water out of the refrigerator. He made a double take. The box of chocolate doughnuts Falco had bought for Fox, was missing from the counter. Falco rolled his eyes when he found the empty box in trash. He followed the sound of voices into the living room.
Denali and Fox were siting on the couch, taking to reach other.
"You's better start packin'." Falco pointed out.
"Why?" Denali asked.
"'Cause we're goin' campin'. You remember; Pylmatunin'." Falco replied.
"Yay! I hav'nt been there in, like, forever!" Denali exclaimed.
"Ditto." Fox said, thinking of all the s'mores he was going to eat.
"Well, is Firefox going too? Where is she?" Denali asked.
"Out shopin' for the trip." Falco replied.
"Is she buying s'mores stuff? Fox asked b
"Yes." Falco said. "Well, I'd better get the truck ready." He added. Falco grabed the keys from on a table.
"Wait, wait, Falco, I hav'nt given you a hug yet!" Denali exclaimed, and ran towards him.
Falco held out his wings in a hug gesture. "It's about time!" He joked as Denali threw herself into Falco's arms.
Falco put a wing behind Denali's ankles, and lifted her up into the air like she was just a pile of blankets.
Denali squealed and put her arms around his neck.
"Show off." Fox muttered.
Falco chuckled.
"Join in, Fox!" Denali exclaimed.
"No, thanks. I was just about to get something to drink. Falco, do we still have…." Fox was enterupted by Falco.
"No. You drank all the chocolate milk yesterday mornin'." He replied.
"Oh yeah. Darn it." Fox said.
Falco set Denali down.
"Well, I'd better go pack my stuff. I'll get Firefox's camping supplies too, since she's at the store." Said Denali.
"See you in a little." Fox told her.
"Dito." Falco agreed.
Denali smiled and left to her house.
Falco drove his truck up front, then he and Fox both packed their stuff.
