GRADING COMPANY
by A. Griffin
Gaming collectables grading is stumping me,
my hobby's being fleeced by shady companies.
I can't believe what's in front of me,
grading firms and auction houses
shaking hands in the back alley,
no wonder the market
is all peaks and no valleys.
The value skyrockets,
watch the prices go up, and up,
but they made millions of these,
so the price jump is more than sus.
I wanted to have fun,
not to get rich quick,
the way some graders work the news
to load the market is sick.
It's fine to turn a profit on a hobby you love,
but blowing bubbles on purpose
is for kids that chew gum.
Is mine a Gem Mint 10?
Let me ask old Ben,
Poor Richard had a comment on this
that sticks in my head -
"Lost time is never found again.",
so should I act now?
Fear of missing out
has my brain scrambling around.
Quick, I gotta send in all my stuff to be graded,
my collection's lost value every day that I've waited,
but wait,
how am I supposed to know
what my collection is really worth,
when the ones that rate the goods
have no record of proven work?
False hype trains with no brakes
derail the market like vandals,
the engines in front
are Peter Scam and Sir Scandal,
and this grading firm's nonsense
is more than I can handle -
the credibility flickers
like wind-buffeted candles.
This market is a desert,
and I'm desperate for water,
but I'd rather dry up
than do business with WATA.
I'm not trying to flake,
but I'm pulling out of this mess,
I'm just in this for fun,
not to get my bottom line wrecked.
Karl Jobst did an exceptional video about fraud and deception in regards to this company's connections with an auction house whose owner cause a major financial scandal in the 80's.
