Journals don't catch as many eyes as art posts, so for anyone who missed it, I'm reiterating it here.
To keep people in the loop of my art, I've stopped uploading to FA. I do not agree with the upcoming rule changes in 2.7 and I have severely disliked how it has indirectly labeled myself and others as something horrible. I and others enjoy a more toony artstyle and fictional scenarios with fictional characters that are fictional. I have seen people apply and use this label to slander others because of this update, and this is not a place I wish to be any longer. I will not return.
I don't believe in deleting my art, so the archive is there for as long as it can be. You can find my continued art posts here and in these other places:
-I have my own telegram art channel! (18+) https://t.me/TrevorFoxArt
-Comm form and other places to find me: https://t.co/2fV4ahgPyj

It is very frustrating. I don't know that my work will actually be affected, but I am leaving from more of a stance of "I disagree with this policy and the negative effects I've already seen it have and mods not helping at all and shutting down all easy avenues of discussion"
I put this as an answer in my journal, but I read the rule and have kept up with the goings-on around that rule as things have developed and explanations have been attempted. Here's a rundown for the beginning of the fiasco until I stopped following it as much:
So, FA has had a rule that sexual art involving underage characters is not allowed on here. FA put out a new announcement that they are putting in some new rules about what is and is not allowed regarding this topic. It goes into effect July 1st. You can read the actual news post here so that you don't just have my viewpoint on it: https://www.furaffinity.net/journal.....r#jid:10552819
In it, they say that they are trying to get around a loophole where people just say a character is aged up. The problem is that this is very vague, up to interpretation, and attacks people's art styles. This worried and upset a lot of people. So they reached out and were like, "Hey, my style is cartoony and my characters might be considered to be this way under the new rule. Is that actually going to be a problem?" To which they got mixed responses from various mods, but the response heard back was mostly, "Yes."

This has upset a lot of people. The journal doesn't have any sort of commentary that can be made for discussion and the FA discussion board is closed. FurAffinity Twitter didn't make a post about it when it was announced, so people took to their Discord Channel. The mods started timing people out for trying to ask questions and told them to make a support ticket and have their art analyzed. Then after that, the mods opened a discussion channel on the Discord to further explain the rule while those people who initially asked questions were still timed out:

People made more support tickets and had the nature of that support ticket changed or received feedback that was still confusing and answered no questions:

Since people do not have an outlet to complain or vent their grievances and things keep piling up more and more, some have gotten rather testy in their response to the administration here. They've taken to Twitter and used it to yell and scream at FA for not listening. They blame FA for setting up vague and arbitrary rules. People are unhappy that FA mods, who hold a lot of power, can lord this rule over them based on their mood and whim. This also hurts a lot of people because if they're worried about their livelihood or the type of art style they enjoy and they voice that complaint, others immediately libel and label them as child predators. I have also found this on Twitter, but I won't link to those people because I don't want anyone being attacked.
Many people think that this means that all short characters are banned. I do think that misses some of the nuance to the situation, however; with how vague the rule is, it's a valid concern. Especially since the rule mentions looking or seeming childlike or having childlike proportions.

Mods have a lot of responsibility and are under a lot of stress. Having served in a similar position before, it is why I don't like being in such places. But having that power and position also means using it responsibly and doing your best to alleviate people's concerns which has not been done. More confusion has been thrown into the mix and I do believe that people are missing each other's perspectives, but there has been a lot of unfair judgements and mudslinging going on.

As was linked to me below this comment, FA has started damage control. They've finally made Twitter posts to try and address people's concerns, mentioning that short characters will not be affected. But the answer isn't enough because there's still so much vagueness, and people's negative experiences with the situation already from official staff members haven't helped.

And that's everything that's been going down so far. I didn't include other happenings such as the site owner deleting his art when people called him out on how it's hypocritical to these rules, mods deleting comments on their own characters or art, etc. And this doesn't even include the Discord drama and shut-down of discussion there or people who have been suddenly banned
