So, I've been trying to get more practice with full color works, and... well, I've been hesitant to try and do anything because A: I suck at it and B: No one should pay me money for what I suck at.
So, there are a couple folks out there I owe color commissions to for various reasons... I want you to know I'm trying to not suck anymore. I'm developing my ideas and techniques for Photoshop, and this is the result of two hours' work starting from a pencil sketch I did for a friend at a recent convention.
I think I'm getting better. Maybe. >.>;

You're getting better, yeah. The more you practice, the better you get. This isn't bad at all for two hours of work, especially compared to me.
Biggest thing I would change is the proportions. Something closer to this. http://stickman.mach5.org/temp/mega.....ffle_stuck.jpg Still not perfect, but gets the idea across visually -- upper body feels fine, hips and legs feel compressed.

(Hid previous comment, reworded it so it made more sense)
Comparison is always going to make you feel awful, though! I do it plenty as it is, and each time my work just looks worse! But you have to soldier on with it. Don't necessarily deprecate your *self* for the art. That's a dangerous road to take.
I mean, sure, I may not be into the stompier aspects of your work; but even those, you do with an aplomb and panache that's all you. And I can never take that away from you. You're -good- and you have a style, so don't let Blizzard's super-elite artists and their dramatic panoramas keep you down!

i found some numbers and they put him in the 32km to 72km tall range depending on his location on the earth i.e. if he's close to the equater then he's probably closer to 72km tall
these figures are based of the height of the tropopause (8 to 18 km) which is ilustrated by the top of the cloud mentioned earlier

Actually, this is one of the best giraffes I've seen. I really love the shape of his muzzle -- even if it feels more at home on a dragon than a 'raffe.
As always, you excel with the illusion of weight and the effects of your character with his environment. The hoofprints are just swoon-worthy. :D
I've known you for a long time, and you've come a *long* way since I first met you. You really should be proud of your progress, even while realizing there's a lot more craft to learn. You're the dude. :)

You are your worst critic. But that's normal. ;) It's a lot like working out, or a weight loss program -- every day is such a minor gain it's hardly noticeable, but you work at it long enough and suddenly you realize you've improved so much you're almost unrecognizable from the figure you started with.
Keep at it. I'm sure you have lots of sketches and b&w's from other folks - perhaps try coloring some of their pieces? Coloring something you didn't plan for from the get-go might give you a different perspective, and force you to flex those coloring fundamentals in different ways.
A great quote I heard recently: "I do that which I cannot do in order to learn how to do it." Not directly applicable, since obviously you can color, but I know you can improve and do things later that you cannot do now.
