"Miraculously, it does not matter what route they take as it always seems these two will find one another at the crossroads again and again..."
Hee-Ho howdy everyone. Today I once again explore more of Ayvil’s character. It’s a bit hard to put in perspective of where this fits in the timeline, and it’s not even an actual area in the setting. This is more of an “emotional” piece I would say. (As well as the idea behind crossroads in general and what they mean in a mythological sense.) I want to point out that this is a pseudo-sequel to the previous post of: "A Crusade Against the Stars" , However, it is still many years later after these events which will be explained shortly.
I want to get something across and it’s more or less about her relationship with Thomza and the Pillars as a whole. That yes, she is in pure servitude of the pillars being a crusader and everything, but she was more interested in the teachings that they provided. Things that challenged her original code as a lab created mercenary as it detailed things, she properly believed in. Some of the abridged versions of these knight-like codes are such as “be like a dragon, be the one to protect those who cannot protect themselves”, “take the oath of the warrior and deal with no such injustices that befall you or others”. Upon taking these oaths she believes she has found purpose more than just senseless combat issued out by her creators and it is why she had no problem abandoning them when the time had come
After the Mimin War and during the Ultrinian War however one of her prophecies she had created came true. That in the people’s time of need that the Mute God would descend from the sky and slay the foul stars who plagued the land. In which as soon as Thomza had arrived, she went back to her original war plan. Completely abandoning Captain PiK’s general “peace” with the stars and refused to bow down to them any further. Even if her own comrades would not follow her and believed Captain PiK was their new God, she would traverse this path alone if she really needed it to be. That she would have the strength and willpower of a thousand dragons!
After abandoning Captain PiK and her old comrades she would find The Mute God, Thomza on the battlefield waging the war she so desperately wanted to finish with extreme impunity as it had been hold for many years. She would take over command and lead the multiple regiments of Scalebolds to victory against the false gods of the realm and eventually be supported by Captain PiK and her old comrades. Further on into the story and after the fall of the stars, Thomza would regain his voice once again.
Time and time again Ayvil would find herself by Thomza’s side in glory to the pillars as they are usually locked in combat against many dangerous foes. Months would pass as Ayvil would slowly grow more and more fond of Thomza’s presence. Until eventually initiating a romantic interest in him and admitting her feelings directly. He would accept her proposal as the two became wedded only a year later. A distinct fear Thomza has is the extreme power imbalance between the two. Thomza is a mythological figure, one of the figures who created their universe and even the knightly code, however Ayvil would usually put that worry to rest. Having a joking remark that she soon too will become a God through righteous training and become a Pillar just like the rest of them.
Truth be told, Ayvil is the one who coined the term of “Chosen” which is now a combat regiment in the servitude of the pillars for the strongest and most loyal of heroes. However, Ayvil has ascended far beyond that rank to sit directly next to the throne of Thomza’s own side. Although not only just that, but she is also now considered a Deity, one of the pillars, and she seems to always find herself at the crossroads with her husband at her side.
...As said from the beginning, “Miraculously, it does not matter what route they take as it always seems these two will find one another at the crossroads again and again..."
...And that’s that! Thank you for all reading everyone, I hope you have a wonderful day!

I want to point out that this is an Epic Dark Fantasy setting with a lot of mythological and religious tones and that there is no real-life connection to any of these events, religions, characters and it is fully, grounded, in fantasy. There is no copyright infringement also intended to other forms of media as Skin to Scales is meant to be its own thing and something I've been working on for a very long time. This is the same setting where faith is a massive part of the magic system.
