Some time ago Charlie was at the edge of final death and accepted a contract with a demon. Demon could posses malk's body for a hour and in return, everyone who was around Charlie at this moment survived. However, the demon didn't use all his time and now, he can possess Charlie's body whenever he wants as long as he has contracted time. And my malk decided to build a labyrinth inside his head, so the demon, whenever he chooses to jump into Charlie's body, will go to labyrinth first and waste precious time. Charlie used chaos and his dementation, but it wasn't strong enough. So he asked a spirit of the old abandoned caern to help him build, trick and keep. The spirit ( manifested as a big old oak tree) took his eye and grew a little bit of his roots inside Charlie's eye and brain. And, with united powers the plan worked. At least one time. We'll see how it goes next.

mechanically, he have to constantly draw himself insane and constantly build new rooms of the labyrinth whenever demon tries to jump to his body. It feels like eternity for him, when just a few minutes passes irl.
