I was stuck in a place. A place where it felt like hell. I was decapitated with makeup and somehow became invulnerable. Even if I did encounter what I thought was my worst nightmare, I met someone...someone who I thought was the one I wanted to be with forever.
Chapter 1
A long time ago, there was a facility that was destroyed by two young animals. That’s right, two animals destroyed a five storied building, resulting in a few human deaths and freedom to other animals. You will soon find out who they are very soon, but first, we need to know how these two heroes met.
It began in the forest. In that forest, there lived some rabbits, in a burrow. They have been living in this burrow for about two full months. This was due to a facility called Genron, which tested animals for many different experiments. The rabbits were frightened, they didn’t want to end up as some science experiments! So, to stay safe until the company shuts down, all the rabbits big and small stayed in a giant burrow all together. They ate together and they slept together. The only time they would go outside their burrow is if they had to grab a blade of grass or a nice carrot to eat. Other than that, they usually stayed warm in the dark yet cozy space.
One of the rabbits that lived in the burrow was Redmond. She was a single parent and a fearless fighter. She went to Genron, once, but managed to escape. Sadly, she got her foot caught on a wired fence, and it was ripped off thanks to those scientists pulling too hard on her body to get her unstuck. Redmond’s foot is now made of blue foam, blue foam that the other rabbits found lying around, and managed to make into the shape of a foot for Redmond to walk normally.
Redmond also lived with her six-year-old daughter, Mollie. She was just like her mother, feisty, yet gold hearted. Mollie didn’t know about Genron because her mother kept it a secret from her. Redmond didn’t want her own daughter to know about such a disastrous place where she faced a gruesome fate. Unfortunately, this is where Mollie would experience what her mother did.
Toward evening, the rabbits had gathered in the burrow (like always) to have a meeting. This meeting was to know more about Genron and how much longer they were going to be stuck underground (as you can tell, they had this meeting for about...a while). Redmond and Mollie were hopping along, trying to find a spot to sit.
Redmond: Come on, Mollie, we have no time to lose.
Mollie was in the middle of staring at a slug climbing up the burrow's wall. She’s a little kid, people give her a break!
Mollie: Sorry, mom. I just wanted to see if the little fella was moving.
Redmond: Look, you can play with the slug later. Right now, we need to find a spot before they’re all taken!
Luckily, the two found the last ones available. They were sandwiched between some other rabbits, but they didn’t seem to mind, at least Mollie didn’t. One of the rabbits who was next to Redmond glanced over, winked, and clicked his tongue at her.
Mollie: Mom? Why did that guy just look at you like that?
Redmond cringed back from the tongue click and turned to her curious child.
Redmond: Sweetie, cover your ears for a moment.
Mollie, being the obedient youngster she was, did as her mother said. Redmond glared at the bunny swooner and said, “Cold shower.” The male, shocked and confused by this didn’t utter another word after that, causing Redmond to smirk to herself. Soon, the meeting started, and an elderly grey rabbit came in, with a lantern in his hand. His name was Onyx. He was the chief and leader of the fluffle.
Onyx: Ladies and germs, thank you for coming to this meeting once again. I know we have been stuck down here for quite some time, but as we all know, we must remain down in this area till we know it’s safe to be out in the world again. Now, sadly, there are now more deaths to the rabbit population thanks to Genron corporation. Miss Stella Southpaws just lost her son a few days ago during a testing experiment, God bless him. He was only seven years old. There were also multiple families killed during an acute toxicity test.
Mollie hugged her mother’s arm in fear from just hearing all of this. She didn’t want to die from a testing experiment.
Later that night, all the rabbits went to sleep in their small, little bedrooms. They were built into the walls of the burrow and were like college dorm rooms. Redmond was getting ready for bed when Mollie walked in and whispered to her.
Mollie: Mom?
Redmond: Mollie? What are you doing up? You should be in bed!
Mollie: I know, but I cannot fall asleep.
Redmond: Why not? Something troubling you?
Mollie: I keep thinking about that...Genron place. What’s it like there?
Redmond: Hun, it’s best if you don’t know about that joint. I went there once, and I don’t want to return to those horrible memories again.
Mollie: What do you mean, Mom?
Redmond: I... *sigh* I knew it would be time to tell you this.
She sat down on Mollie’s little bed and put her around her side.
Redmond: You see, when I was your age, I was captured with your grandmother, and we ended up at Genron. Those humans used us rabbits for makeup testing experiments, and your grandmother ended up dying and...
She started to sniff.
Redmond: She was unfortunately fed to a pack of weasels.
Mollie was horrified! No wonder her mother didn’t want to tell her about this!
Redmond: I managed to escape, but on the way, my foot got stuck on a wired fence and I ended up having to get it cut off.
Mollie: And that’s why it’s...blue?
Redmond: Yes, dear. I’m sorry I scared you, but I just knew I had to tell you someday.
Mollie hugged her mother and patted her gently on the back.
Mollie: It’s okay, mom. I understand, but.... will I ever get captured and have makeup all over me?
Redmond: No! As long as you and I stay down here, we have nothing to worry about!
Redmond hugged her daughter back, got up and laid her down in her bed.
Redmond: Now, you get some sleep, Mollie. We’ll get up nice and early for breakfast.
Mollie: Will we have some grass?
Redmond: Yes.
Mollie: And some hashbrowns?
Redmond: Yes, and some hashbrowns.
Mollie: And some carrots?
Redmond: *sigh* Yes, Mollie, we’ll have some carrots too. Now, try to go to sleep.
Mollie: Hey mom?
Redmond: Oh my god-what?
Mollie: I love you.
There was a pause, a long pause.
Redmond: I love you too, Mollie.
And she turned off the lights and went to bed herself.
