Not that the world is going to end, per se. Absorbed, yes.
Her Dad told her, through LARS, that the Vitrin Entity will eventually find a way to get out of its prison. And it's implied that the Vitrin Entity has been using his old flame's likeness (Baelin) as a mind screw each time it gets out.
Dear old Dad doesn't think he's strong enough to stop the Vitrin Entity this time from despair of having lost Baelin, then a LOT of people, over and over and over again. And huge chunks of the planet get munched before he can come up with a new strategy to trap the Entity.
There seems to be a conspiracy going on (which just so happens to involve Mis'Alia's daughter) to push Fen over the edge and get her to go nuclear on the Vitrin Entity. She's the sole inheritor of Dad's power.

It's been heavily implied that Vitrin Entity is not the one being held somewhere, it's this piece of a planet is the only thing that's left.
Fen's dad and other scientists surrounded their space with hadalen energy, but Vitrin is eating through the barrier, slowly, but surely.
Vitrin is already out, and they don't know how to stop it.
Fen have to help them figure out a way to fight back and beat Vitrin indeffinitely.

As I recall, there's a rift in the orbit of Farellar, which is encased in the Vitrin Sphere. With the rift being the means by which the Entity can directly get at Farellar, which it's escaped from several times, each time munching more of the planet.
But, yes, there is a shield around the solar system to keep the Entity out as well, since there were other rifts opened in distant systems. It just took thousands of years due to the distances involved. Either the prison in orbit fails, or the shield fails.

Wow, Lillie has blue, blue eyes. Like looking into a deep tide pool with two deep layers. Though I hope that Lillie isn't still chained in other ways, that use of 'Master' has me concerned.
You know, it's interesting to think about Lamb's nickname and think about her hair. Because when you look at how its styled, I think of it more of a lions mane. And what do you know, in a fight Morgan is more of a lion then a lamb.

I actually love Lamb’s hair in this one. That third panel, this mighty warrior who near single-handedly cut through you’r captor’s camp and tore them to shreds, standing there with this golden mane, backed by the morning light, telling you that they’ll train you to be strong.
Then it’s followed up by those eyes and absolute adoration.
