This sounds amazing! It's interesting how after every bass beat all the other instruments fade back in, sort of like a big subwoofer sucking all the juice out of a capacitor on the amp power supply so it takes a split second for the audio to recover. At least, during the segment that starts at 1:03. Total fave!
In engineering terminology:
it's a LFO. I use a VST called Duck that pushes the sound down (volume control in a sense) that is side chained to the kick.
In english: When the kick plays, it turns the sounds down. It gives it that bounce and let's the kick be heard alot more.
