Firelight Swamp, a murky way of dirty water. The swamp is best known for its fireflies, which illuminate the way. Some travelers mistake will-o-wisps for other fireflies and get lost within the swamp. But a select few who follow these wisps will find a beautiful castle, carved from stone. Its burning, red light acts as a beacon, with black smoke filling the air every so often.
Welcome to Salamander Grove.
This ancient school can only be found by the descendant of Witches, for they are the only ones who can follow the will-o-wisps and not get lost. The school was founded by an ancient duo of sisters, both experts in Fire Magic and guided by their familiars, a pair of twin salamanders. These fire elementals found a safe haven from human persecution for their mistresses, who then proceeded to build a sanctuary and school for Witches to hone their magic.
Once found, students and visitors alike will have to cross the water and reach the small land mass that the school is built on. There is usually a row of planks that students can hop across to reach the castle when the water is calm. They should be careful; for Gator Dragons live in the firelight Swamp and they can be quite ferocious. They're known for their pure-white scales, but juveniles can have brown scales that, some would say, look eerily similar tot he color of wood.
The school is famous (or infamous) for training witches in the school of Fire Magic. Not every witch is a specialist of the school, but due to the large amount of salamanders in the area, it tends to attract spellcasters who have this affinity already, with exposure to the fire elementals blessing them and making it easier to use this magic. The castle is often illuminated with firelight, with the various chimneys puffing smoke and whistling steam from wizards practicing more practical applications for their craft.
