skynet knew that the human resistance used dogs to detect terminator infiltrator units and these dogs were good at their job, skynet therefore decided to change from making humanoid machines to creating canine infiltrators these machines could tear humans to pieces in seconds and proved effective at gaining access to Resistance bases before revealing their true nature to unsuspecting resistance fighters
tk9 however was captured and reprogrammed to fight for the resistance

John Connor sees the t-850’s t-1000’s and TX’s walking the battlefield then he sees a dog amungst them. He couldn’t tell if it was the new canine terminator he keeps studying the Rottweiler.

sammy- well i was sent back to keep sarah safe. couldn't bring my translator collar though and my name got changed to max. plus i've a few white hairs now but i'm still able to fight
