Chess is a mixed-species anthro in a society with some mixed-species based discrimination. When his friend goes missing and the authorities don't care enough a missing mutt to look into it, he has no choice but to look for outside help. Luckily there's a reasonably priced private investigator in town, but he might have some troubles of his own, too

Also Chess is really not the sharpest tack, so he's gotta accept any help where he can find it
