Queen Jasiri didn't make it a habit to go out of her way to evaluate new maids. That was truly a kind of micromanaging she didn't need to concern herself with. There were people who she paid to mind the staff and she left them to it.

But she was aware of a recent hire of a Lesser Dunian Burrowing Rabbit. She had never heard of that species but it took all sorts to make the kingdom of Dunia and she was queen to all - from the very common felines to the obscure like the burrowing rabbit.

(Of course, she didn't suspect that Gabriela was actually a goblin because why would anyone suspect that?)

Uncommon species or not, Queen Jasiri had no reason to single out Gabriela for attention. The girl would do a good job or she wouldn't and then the appropriate middle men would deal with it as warranted.

But the first time Jasiri noticed the new maid around the castle, she stopped instead of walking past. Gabriela was cleaning with such energy so early in the morning. The queen changed her route so she could walk by and offer a compliment.

"Ahh! Good on you for getting to work so early!" Queen Jasiri said to the hard-working maid.

Gabriela stopped working to wipe her brow and respond. "Shucks, ma'am! Thank ya!"

But when she swung the broom up to a resting position it hooked under Jasiri's skirt and tugged it up. If anyone other than the two of them had been in the hall, the queen's underwear would have been exposed!

Jasiri yanked her skirt free, smoothed it down, and then walked away blushing.

The new maid was hard-working but not aware enough of her surroundings!
