The Mage giggled she looked into her crystal ball, examining the three adventures that tried to invade her tower, and all of them having fallen to her traps.
Nemket Eadrio shouted in his ancient tongues as he thrashed against his chains. Being an Ogre Fighter, he was much better trained than most of his fellows in the art of combat. But that didn't stop him from being trapped by her pet Slime Monster and being taken to her dungeon. His armor and weapons weren't any good anyway at this point; they were rusted and brittle due to soaking in the slime for so long, it'd cost more to restore them at this point.
"Let me out of here!" The green Ogre shouted as he tried to fight against his chains, but the Mage would do no such thing.
Next to him was Knec Starbender; a Tiefling. His violet skin made the Mage feel weak in the knees - or maybe that was the nicely carved muscles of his frame. Unusual for a Sorcerer - most of them relied only on their magical powers that were natural to them. He was surprisingly quiet, but the Mage had heard about how wily Knec could be. But the chains she used were made of Star Metal, which negated magical abilities. He would not be getting free anytime soon.
He fell for the slime trap as well, but since he didn't wear much armor or carry many weapons save for a spare dagger, it didn't slow him down. No, his downfall came when he spotted a treasure chest lying around. His greed overcame him and he fell for the Mimic's clever disguise and was dragged to the dungeon in his tentacles.
But the most calm to all of this was the Dragonborn, Lulong. He was a Paladin, a drake who had pledged to rid the world of evil. The Mage wouldn't call herself good, but evil? She just wanted to be left alone! To study the cosmos and not bother anybody! It was just ignorant villagers who feared her when she erected her tower. Sure, she housed a bandit gang here or a hoard of Goblins there, but really, was granting sanctuary such an evil thing?
Back to Lulong, he got the farthest up her tower, only being defeated by one of the Mage's champions: Orgoth Gaukrogers, an Orc. They battled for hours, but Orgoth overcame the Paladin and dragged him to the dungeon after stripping the Dragonborn of his armor and weapons - which were in much finer condition than most equipment.
"What will become of them, my Mistress?" Orgoth asked, the pig-like creature kneeling behind the Mage. "Will we send them into the Dark Pit?"
"No, there's no use throwing them in that horrid den." The Mage mused. "I'll see to their punishment myself for their transgressions. I might even be able to milk some news out of them so I'll know who sent them for my head."
